Name: Uesugi Yori (Japanese form)
Age: 20
Clothing: Yori wears a simple brown tunic, brown pants, and sandals. Nothing fancy; on the contrary Yori looks quite impoverished.
Eyes: Yori’s most distinctive feature is his eyes, having almost silver pupils. At first glance, the sight of Yori’s eyes is rather disorienting.
Hair: Yori’s hair is a light sandy brown, with bangs reaching about halfway down his short forehead and reaching down to the base of the neck in the back. (Okay fine, it’s a mullet.)
Face: Yori has a small head and a nose which sticks out sharply; his nose is very distinctive, being vertically much shorter than the average nose and horizontally much longer. His skin tone is very pale and is virtually unblemished.
Build: Yori is rather small, at 5’8″ and weighing around 130 pounds. His body is virtually devoid of visible muscle tissue, and his relatively short strength is evenly distributed throughout his body.
Nation of Origin: Fire
Element(s): Spirit
Beast Alignment: Fox
Bloodline Limit (if any): None. His clan is quite prestigious, but his element and beast combination are an anomaly to the clan, and thus Yori carries few of their normal traits.
Specialty: Yori is best described as a “developing” warrior, being quite unskilled in combat due to the nature of his personality (see below). However, he carries incredible potential which he releases when he or a friend is in mortal peril, surrounding himself with an aura that offers him fast healing and which heightens his reflexes and overall combat skill. He has a limited version of this ability which draws on his chakra, and a more advanced version which draws upon his innate fox spirit. For weaponry, he almost exclusively uses a wakizashi and an off-hand jitte.
Personality: Yori means “dependence,” and the name certainly fits. He is incredibly timid and, to a certain extent, spoiled; loved ones have been fighting his battles for him since he was born, and this trend has been reversed only recently.
History: The Uesugi clan had essentially its own village near the eastern border of the country. They, like many others in the Nation of Fire, were very talented shinobi and served as their own militia, sending few of their own to active military service. Yori was highly regarded by the elders of the village. They recognized his potential to surpass all others in the clan, but they did not do their duty in training him. As a result, Yori led a sheltered life and learned little of the way of the warrior. This continued for 16 years, until Yori entered into manhood. At that time, the elders realized the disservice they had done to the heir of the Uesugi’s greatness and began an intensive training method. However, due to the life Yori had led prior to that, he responded negatively and learned little. Without the use of chakra, Yori became capable of rather advanced self-defense with the use of the Uesugi’s trademark wakizashi and jitte by the time he was 19.
When Yori was 19, calamity struck the Uesugi; the Nation of Water invaded and, in a rare occurrence, Uesugi’s village was in their army’s path. The sheer force of numbers overran the village, and few survived. However, on that day, for the first time Yori began to tap into his true potential. He killed ten men over the course of a three-day siege. He became exhausted quickly on the third day, but reinforcements from the government arrived to dispose of the remaining troops. The survivors were brought back to the capital and, as payment for the shinobi saving their lives, were conscripted into the general military. Yori’s superiors have realized his potential, but little formal training has occurred outside of real combat. Yori continues to grow as a warrior and as a person, but is very much incomplete at the moment.
Additional Information: Yori is an extremely picky eater; he is a vegetarian and eats only fresh, high-quality produce. To a certain extent the military has forced him to cut down on his expectations, but he still clings to his old habits whenever possible.
