Race: Gray Elf
Age: 76
Height/Weight: 6’2/169 lbs
Class: Warrior/mage
-Specialization(s): Illusion

He wears brown leather hiking boots, long, brown leather pants and, most of the time, no shirt. His hair is a dirty silver color, and his face is lined with both care and age creases. His skin is a deep tan from working in the sun, and his upper body is almost entirely composed of scar tissue due to heavy whipping in his earlier years.
-Identifying Marks: Avorusto has the image of a tree branded onto his forehead marking him as a lifelong defender of the forests.
Equipment: Avorusto carries a single claymore that he himself forged, which is almost always disguised as a walking stick. He is also capable of wielding one smaller sword in each hand, but rarely does so.
Personality: Avorusto is very free-spirited and individualistic. He generally minds his own business and doesn’t tend to interfere unless his own interests are threatened. His lack of devotion to any particular cause gives him value as a mercenary. Avorusto is incredibly paranoid and constantly suspects any and all authority figures.
-Likes: Fighting, pulling that occasional practical joke on one of his buddies, pulling that practical joke on one of his enemies while one of his buddies slaughters said enemy
-Dislikes: Any mention of Silvos, forest spirits or elven culture, whips, branding irons, other illusionists, being tailed by anyone, governments

Biography: Avorusto Mymais was born into a very small elven village in southern Rethlyn, completely surrounded by Andrenor territory and self-ruled. It resembles less a small forest and more a large grove. His parents were both very ardent followers of Silvos, but his paternal grandfather had left the elven country shortly after Avorusto’s father was born. The presence of his other three grandparents raised Avorusto’s curiosity, but upon further inquiry he was met with a whip and an order never to mention that grandfather again. Avorusto’s curiosity was whet further at this demand, and from as early an age as six he resolved to find out why his grandfather left and where he was.

At the age of eight, all children of that culture would be branded upon the forehead with a tree symbol dedicating them in service to Silvos. Avorusto responded very negatively to this treatment, shirking his duties as a forest protector and avoiding his family as much as possible. He did, however, find one single protector in his great-uncle. Avorusto’s great-uncle was very much cut from the same cloth that Avorusto was, and so the people looked at him warily. For Avorusto, in between whippings, beatings, and the occasional bite to eat or wink of sleep, his days were filled with study of the martial arts with his great-uncle. When he was eleven years old, his great-uncle began to instruct him in illusion magic. Avorusto learned these arts even more quickly than most elves did, and no one could deny that Avorusto would be a fine warrior. His motives were constantly questioned, however, and the beatings continued.

Avorusto was only seventeen years old when his great-uncle was executed for aiding and abetting the escape of a criminal. Before his sentence was carried out, he did manage to impart the last known information about his grandfather to Avorusto. Avorusto learned that his grandfather had been in the same situation he was in, but could not stand the corporal punishment any more and killed the one who whipped him, then disappeared. They reasoned that the only way he could have escaped was by turning himself invisible, and in that case his brother would have been the only one who could have detected him. The government had waited nearly 100 years for him to take an apprentice so that they could execute him and still keep the services of an illusionist. Before the government could start carrying out a more detailed plan to depose Avorusto, however, his great-uncle urged him to escape. Avorusto did just that, and began to search for his grandfather.

For nearly 60 years, Avorusto moved from town to town, offering his services to whomever would take him in. A dwarven community helped him develop into a fine blacksmith after three years. After a few years in any given town, he would move in an attempt to throw off anyone who might be pursuing him, and to search for his grandfather. He also worked to improve his skills in combat. Even though he lost his natural elfin affinity for magic, the magic with which he was born did not leave and also improved, albeit at a slower rate. This cycle continued until he arrived in Ebonhold and joined the Fighters’ Guild. He is beginning to make a name for himself, and in light of the current calamity those who stay in the city are beginning to seek his services.
