Kain logged back on. "Avron Plains... I know where it is! I passed through them when I was looking for the town!" Kain said.
...processing charactor data...
...logging on....
Lee appeared where he left off, in the inn, he noticed everyone's charactors running out of the inn and rushing toward the gates of the city. Not wasting a mere nano second he took off after them. He was, of course, unable to keep up with the two who had speed boosting equipment... He pressed on. He decided to go out over the walls of the city, instead of the gate to save time. He headed to the right until he reached the wall, then he put one of his items into use, making him instantinusly raise over the wall with the floating ability. Lucky for him, the wall wasn't more then 15 feet high. He noticed the farm a mile or two away, and he ran toward it. Although the rain had not ceased, it was not all that strong, anymore.
He reached the monster by the time the rain was stopping... To power it more, he used Eye of Storm and caused it to round up again, for a safe time now. It wouldn't do much if the sky was cleared, but it proved useful, always, when a rain needed powering.
"Wooohooo!" Kain typed in.
The monster was seemingly terrorizing an old man, who apperently hid below the barn, as the monster was near it. Lee rushed in to push the NPC who was about to be chopped in half by the monster's massive axe. He pushed the NPC, but got hurt bad enough, half of his energy was gone. Meanwhile, some PCs had been shooting arrows at it from a far, but they slipped through it.
"Ugh..."
He then used a trusty Elixir he had been saving for a time like this, and backed away from the monster.
"Here!" The NPC yelled before going back under the barn. He through a weapon in Lee's direction. It was a club, or more precisly A Troll Club, raised strength significantly. "It may be no use for a spell sword like yourself, but give it to someone who has expirience with it!"
Lee was smart enough not to mess with the monster anymore, and backed into the house near the farm for protection and await until the others came, while the unknown PCs, probably counterparts of Vanz kept it busy. He locked the door, and watched through the window as the beast cast A Greater Fireball, and set the house on fire.
"I've dug my grave for myself!" Lee said. "But..." he prepared to use his Frozen Sword Techinque, and while he prepared, and while the house burned the others had finally arrived from their search. Just then he let out his magic, and broke the door, while freezing the entire house as it was about to collapse. It did of course, but right after Lee rushed out to join the battle again...

OoC: know what? I *would*'ve interrupted on the Lupin bit. Gene, I think you actually know my char better than I do . Anyway, can I ask a favor? Could you add something to your previous post, like how I invited you guys to dinner and then suddenly went missing halfway? Something along the lines of the first part of this post... I'll edit mine later if necessary, by your leave. Thanks in advance.
'Pretentiously'? Monty, you actually meant that, didn't you?
Kyle stood facing the vending machine. Anyone passing by would think that she was there just to buy some soda pop, until they noticed she had been standing very still for a very long time. Actually, she was checking email on her real-life Pocket PC (whom she had inconsequentially named Rina) that was plugged on the vending machine terminal socket.
No news yet. The Torlanova messageboard, aside from a few meaningless skirmishes with the Bona and various requests for items and armor repair, was un-updated as well. Kyle shrugged as she closed her email application.
A ruse... Those things worked IRL too. Everyone was in the cafeteria. Dave had walked behind her, much later than the others, and she had acknowledged him as he passed (she noticed he seemed annoyed at having to take a break). Even Nigel was already there, and that had given her a little bit of free time.
Kyle looked around, checking to see if the corridor was empty. It was. On the lower right-hand side of her Pocket PC screen, there was a small, seemingly empty space right under the trash bin icon. She double clicked it, and a new program window popped up.
She blinked as the entire LCD suddenly went black, and then showed a few pieces of text. Command line? Pathetic... At least she was (somewhat) familiar with the underlying operating system. She began typing commands.
It was too much to hope for that they'd have an electronic map of the compound. But there was a list of floors--a more detailed one than what they had on their website.
43rd floor. Wonder what Nigel has up there? She wondered if he was monitoring what the questors were doing. It would only be natural if he was, hence she hadn't done anything illegal yet (illegal defined as something the CyberWatch people themselves wouldn't do--although a lot of the stuff they do was under the table, so to speak). If he was monitoring them, he would already know about her character hack and would be on the lookout for anything she might attempt. Then again, if he was monitoring them and he did find out about her hack, then he would've--should've--booted her out of the building already.
No, she stopped her train of thought. Nigel probably knows. He was the type. But he had allowed her in anyway? Something's going on here... something they haven't told us yet. Underneath that kindly old man exterior, she sensed something about Nigel Lomaine; it slipped through sometimes in his mannerisms. She didn't know him well enough to like or dislike him, but she sensed some semblance of kinship(huh?) with the man. Something told her he was a hacker too. Or once was. He knew the tricks of the trade, at the very least.
There was the nagging worry that she might all of a sudden get caught. Then again, what she was doing (albeit being unorthodox) was totally legal. After all, she wasn't accessing any private info, was she? Some of the data was already public, and the CyberWatch employees all had access to this stuff...
Still, something imaginary prickled at the back of her mind, and she knew she shouldn't hang around here much longer. She pulled her Pocket PC cable out of the terminal socket, hastily kept her stuff, turned tail with a whiff of her hair and briskly walked back to the cafeteria.
Gene was talking on the phone. Quickly she took her seat beside his. "Who was that?" she asked off-hand. He told her, and she listened. He quickly finished his dinner and went back towards the computer room.
"Aah, Gene, wait up!" Kyle shouted, but he didn't seem to hear her. She followed as best as she could, immediately plopping into her seat after only a brief glance at Lord Vanz's screen.
"Ok, I'm gonna invite all to be part of the party. In that way, there'll be experience bonuses as well, and we can keep track of each other's co-ordinates." Vanz said. Kyle nodded subconsciously as she waited for the party window to pop up on her console. She couldn't help but somehow feel excited at the way Gene said the words, "Let's kick some skeleton butt, I say."
Kyle hadn't logged off, and Miri-Miri hadn't moved at all during dinner time. But Miri-Miri was about to move again very soon. Kyle took a deep breath, moved her mouse and clicked.
The first thing she noticed was that her impromptu experience magnet was moving very quickly outside. Ah, dang, Telsanon was moving too fast for her to keep up. She shook her head in annoyance. I'd better try something else.
"Meet you at the Avron Plains!" That was what Lord Vanz said over dinner, wasn't it? Telsanon was more experienced as a player than her, so she shouldn't worry about him so much (or any of the others, for that matter). All she had to worry about at the moment was getting to the battlefield on time.
She took a detour. There was an NPC tent not too far away. The town drunk had a brother who works as a low-class blacksmith in the basement, but the players who frequented the black market knew that the hammer and anvil was only a front. It was a trade secret among the Torlanova merchants, that Chion (and others like him) can open portals to anywhere--for a price.
"Anything I can do for you, Miri-Miri?" the NPC said with a wink.
Miri-Miri replied impatiently, "Avron plains, please." The blacksmith nodded and held out his hand. Miri-Miri started rummaging through her knapsack. "I've got Wealnus Great Sword, Ring of Poseidon, Ring of the Druids, Ring of the Titans, Neesa's Amulet, Chaos Strike Rod, Brace of Slithering..."
"Neesa's Amulet will be good," Chion told her even as he palmed the jeweled talisman. He opened a portal and motioned for the girl to go inside.
Waitasec... if I teleport there now, I'll get there before the others! I'll be defenseless! She decided to wait a few moments more before she entered the portal.
When she got to the Avron Plains, it was raining. "What the--?!" Miri-Miri shouted in surprise. She saw the burning house, and then decided the rain was good. Fire monster. Of course it had to be a fire monster. Her character's main weakness. She saw the monster, and she gaped. It was HUGE.
She saw one of the questors fighting it. Lee was first to the spot, and he seemed to be having trouble. Miri-Miri took a bottle out of her trusty knapsack. "Think fast, Lee!" she shouted as she threw an Elixir at him. At the same time, the skeleton raised his axe to strike. She rushed towards it, until she was within casting distance. No time for cheap spells, Miri-Miri raised one hand to her lips, her fingers forming an intricate symbol, and she began chanting.
"Time Slow!"
She cast the highest level of the spell as she had in her magic collection. It cost a lot, but it was needed since the lower-end spells simply wouldn't work on the monster. The axe came down, much more slowly, missing its intended target. From the corner of her eye she saw the tell-tale glow of someone using a potion/elixir; she figured it was Lee. She hoped she had enough potions in her inventory to last the fight.
The monster noticed her, and somehow it knew it was her who had cast the time-slow spell. What the-- since when did CyberWatch's beast AI become this good?! It reached out towards her with a roar and cast a fireball. The spell was affected by the time-slow, thankfully, so she was able to move away.
But neither quickly nor far-away enough. The fireball hit the ground where she was and sparks flew all around, surprisingly hurting her. Splash damage for a low-level spell?? Miri-Miri's eyes widened in shock.
She cast one spell after another as she was able. "Regen!" It would affect any of her nearby party members as well. "Poison Root!" Huge, thorned, green-brown tendrils shot out of the ground and entwined the Great Skeleton's legs. He merely chopped them off with his axe, nothing more than nuisances to his great bulk, and continued his advance. "Spikes of Ice Water!" The skeleton cringed, just a little as he was pummeled by shards of clear ice, but otherwise didn't seem affected at all.
It wasn't enough. Her attack spells weren't strong enough. She didn't dare come close to the monster to attack, knowing her little axe would do almost no harm to it at all.
"Where are Yumeko and the others?!" she cried.
'Pretentiously'? Monty, you actually meant that, didn't you?

To: Talan <Angel_Infinity@free.com.ph> From: Arthur V <xanxan@madcow.org> Time: 16 August 2018 8:46 am Subject: news more user accounts shut down. massive account deletion. after a week-long break, there were at least 7 reported cases on the private BBS just last night (the virus used to shut down one account at a time). this may come as a surprise to you, but i know what you've been doing. i know you tapped into the character hack i made for your medievel world char. don't ask me how i found out, not yet. but knowing you, you're planning on using that on something (if you haven't already). telling you to stop would be pointless sinc you never listen to me anyway. but let me warn you: DON'T USE IT YET. not until you find at least three of the legendary treasure pieces. you'll figure out what to do then. :-) yes, kyle, i know that its the agent users accounts that are being shut down. the character hack i made for miri-miri is somehow similar to the agent program. i only recently realized it, i didn't intend for it to be like that. but if you use it now, you might get your account deleted too. no, i don't think that will happen since my code doesn't have the agent signature, but it doesn't hurt to be careful. at the very least, you'll just tip your hand before its time. again, be careful. i'll keep in touch. |
"Reinforcements have arrived." Vanz said in reply to Miri-Miri's cry. Vanz ran swiftly past miri-Miri and jumped as he unsheathed his Runic Blade. "Force Blade!" The Runic Blade glowed brightly into a bright light and as the light diminished, the Runic Blade had changed its colour into a green coloured blade. Vanz struck at the monster, only to be parried by the glass axe that it's wielding. Vanz cursed and got hit by the skeleton's unarmed hand and was pushed back a short distance away. As Vanz landed, he turned and faced the skeleton once more. "Force Slash!" The green blade emitted a thin layer of energy, resembling that of the crescent moon, and emitted it towards the skeleton. The skeleton blocked with the glass axe and was pushed back a step behind.
"Crap, 30 HP gone with one unarmed hit." Gene muttered in front of the computer screen. The situation was clearly bad. With an armed hit, the skeleton could very well kill a goblin. Moreover, imagine the damage one would experience with an attack from his glass axe. A bead of sweat rolled down Gene's forehead, as he imagined the power of the adversary he was up against. "Frost Blade!" Tapping onto the powers of the ice element, the Runic Blade changed from green into light blue. Icicles formed at the edge of the sword, reinforcing the ice element on the sword. The blade sparkled from the dimming light.
"Icicle Strike!" Vanz thrusted his sword into the ground and small icicles spiked out from the ground. The icicles travelled and moved fast towards the skeleton, leaving a trail of ice behind. As the icicles hit the skeleton, large icicles emerged and spiked the skeleton. Vanz smiled, but it vanished almost immediately as the skeleton cleaved therough the icicles and moved on. "This...doesn't work at all?!" Vanz exclaimed.
"It did, Vanz! He's a little damaged on the side." Miri Miri exclaimed from behind him. It was true, but other than that, not much damage was done upon him. Vanz grinned. This was getting exciting and how long was it since he has experienced such excitement.
Throughout his time in Cyberwatch, Vanz encountered many PKers that attacked the newbies. Some were challenging characters, and only when Vanz fought against such, he would be overcome by such excitement.
(OOC: Alright,everyone. Let's all post our fight scenes here. ^_^)

(OOC: Alright,everyone. Let's all post our fight scenes here. ^_^)
"Double Protection." A transparent spheric shield blinked into existence around Miri-Miri with a pleasant buzzing as the softly-spoken words left the lips of the female elf who just appeared behind Miri-Miri. True to its name, the shield covered the two of them just nicely and shone light-blue and green, a sign of its magical and physical protection properties.
"Sorry I'm late." Yumeko smiled apologetically at Miri-Miri before looking at the Great Skeleton Lord and Vanz with a grim expression on her face. "That thing is powerful. Hope my shield can hold from its attacks. It won't do well to have a fireball hit you."
Right on cue, a fireball flew towards them, its speed slowed down considerably thanks to the Kreem's spell that was beginning to wear off. Yumeko took no chances and pointed her staff directly at the flames, chanting under her breath. The flame-shaped crystal on the Staff of Hestia glowed once and a wall of ice shot out from the ground just in time to stop the fireball from impacting the shield around the two ladies. The icewall took the damage and a large part of it melted, no longer able to serve as a second shield.
"That was strong for a fireball. The monster must be at level 75 at the very least." Frowning, Yumeko commented.
"It can well be over level 80." Miri-Miri responded, "Its fireball did splash damage. And it damaged Vanz with just a swipe of its hand."
"Indeed." The healer looked at the skeleton who just swung its axe at someone near. Apparently the other questors have arrived as well and had engaged in the fight. Bringing her staff right in front of her, perpendicular to the ground, she muttered the chant for a spell followed by whole string of names, stopping only after the ruby glowed a brilliant red for a few seconds. "Advanced Guardian Deity."
"You can use that spell?" Miri-Miri half-turned to ask her wth a hint of surprise and suspicion in her blue eyes.
Yumeko chuckled softly, as she knew that most average mage of her level could hardly master Guardian Deity, a mass protection spell with up to 10% increase in both defense and magic-defense, much less say the advanced form of it, which increases the defense attributes up to 25%, with occasional reflect properties. Pulling out Minerva's Blessings, she answered with a smile. "Yes I can, thanks to this necklace and this staff."
"Ah... now I see. We will have a better chance at defeating the monster now." Miri-Miri seemed satisfied with the answer and devoted her attention to distracting the monster that kept the others in the party very busy.
After using an ether on herself to regain her lost magic points, Yumeko settled for monitoring the health and magic points of each of the members closely, casting various healing spells every time the points seem dangerously low, including Reverse Osmose, a useful spell she just picked up recently that transfer some of her magic points to another character. Twice she had to re-cast Advanced Guardian Deity, after she re-cast Double Protection once as it nearly disappeared from the impact of a Greater Fireball.
Glancing at her ether supply after she cast yet another mass-healing spell, Yumeko frowned. She had expected a lack from high amount of usage but not in such a short time. "Miri-Miri, do you have enough ether with you?"
After a quick check, the Kreem merchant answered, "It should be enough to last for a while, even at the rate we are using magic. But I can't say for sure."
"Okay. I'll go restock if it gets too low." Yumeko replied after some consideration. She seldom leaves a major party battle that requires her to be there but she is worried about the lack of ether. She prays that there will be no need of her to do the restock, as she had a bad feeling involving the battle with the Great Skeleton Lord.
[OOC: ^^ Everyone, from now on, your characters will be healed when he is badly hurt. A few shouts of 'thanks' will be appreciated =P and also, indicate if your magic ran low. I'll need to judge when to get Yumeko to restock, if that is necessary. Oh, and for your information, Advanced Guardian Deity creates an silver colored halo on top of your character's head ^^; and there will be a significant increase in defense and magic-defense. Enjoy the fight! Gotta go for school activities XP]

"Ah...
Lee was back in the game again... But his mediocre sword skills would do next to nothing against the undead giant.
The monster stood facing backward to Lee, it was 10 feet tall, about. He would be able to stick his Fafniel into the back of Skelly's skull. And so, Lee charged his sword in his hands over his head. He was close enough, and the blade impacted the skull and then.... it bounced off, leaving but a scratch. The beast was too slow to turn around before Lee could leave the radius of its axe.
"I need something better then this crap!" Lee exclaimed. The Slowed skeleton began to accilirate. Did the spell wear off that fast? The beast had truly high stats to get rid off it.
The undead marched toward Lee in high speed.
"Frozen Metal!" he screamed as he used it. It hit the Skeleton's left arm, the one without an axe and it burned a bit, and damaged just a little more then the Ice attack.
"Ice works. Heh, expected that." he said, Suddnely he was hit by the axe, and half of his Hp was gone. A heal spell from Yumeko.
"Thanks!" he was healed up. He was just about to use Melting Metal again, but he ran out of mp. Unable to use any more of his sword techniques.
"Hey, aren't you a white mage?" he turned around to see if Yumeko was there, luckily, she was. "Well, gimme some Mp, fast!" The woman shook her head in refusal. Apperently she her self had run out of it. That, Lee understood. "Fine..." he said and ran around the beast who had its complete attention on Lee, until someone else hit it with an arrow, or some other projectile. It turned around looking for the one who did it.
"Quick, its weakness is ice!" Lee yelled out.

Damien stood with his bow drawn preparing for another attack. He knew that he wouldn't be much use in this fight so the least he could do would be to distract it from the others. He turned to the white mage and nodded.
"Hey, if you need to restock I suggest you do it now. We'll distract it until you get back..."
As if on cue the monster hit Damien back many feet, obviously irritated that Damien had hit it while it was about to make a kill. Damien stood to his feet and shook his head.
"Well...guess I'll know now not to turn my attention away from the beast again."
He used a potion on himself so the white mage wouldn't have to waste anymore MP, yet. He yelled to everyone, but mainly the white mage.
"Listen, I'll heal until she gets back...I should have enough potions and ethers to last until then..."
Damien looked at his stock and swore....he had only 15 potions, 10 ethers, and 3 elixirs. He shook his head and launched another arrow at the beast, only to miss.
"Great...Guess my roles in this fight will be to distract and dodge..." He looked at the others who had arrived before. "Listen, I'll distract it...I'm not going to be much more use than that so, I might as well allow you to get some shots in on it."
With that he shot another arrow at the beast, doing little if any damage when he hit it. This was enough, however, to draw the monster's attention away from the others and onto him.
"Yeah...That's right turn your attention to me..."

"Ice,eh? Ice shall it be!!" Cal yelled as he came riding on his new steed,with a red longbow in his hands.He drawed three enchanted arrows he got from Jericho and aimed on the undead creature,but he was fast,no,it was fast.it managed to block the arrows with it's axe,but one arrow managed to hit it in the skull making it take few steps backwards.
"At last,there you are! You did not haste I see" Vans said as Cal jumped off the steed next to him."I am never in haste..."
"People need Mp points,let's give them a chance then,eh?"
Cal looking at the sceleton waited for reply,as he looked back Vanz nodded.
Right before rushing Vanz yelled "Frost Blade!" Tapping onto the powers of the ice element, the Runic Blade changed from green into light blue. Icicles formed at the edge of the sword, reinforcing the ice element on the sword. The blade sparkled from the dimming light.
Cal looked at the blade and unsheated his murasame and masamune,as they charged he said to Damien "get back and cover us,shoot him in the head if he tries to use magic,I got some info that he is vurnable there when he's using magic..."
Damien backed up a bit and aimed at the skull,waiting for him to use magic.
"I don't know who's who,but I want the mage's to get some mp while me and Vanz disctract him!"
Cal didn't see who listened to him and who's not,but he and vanz managed to get sceleton's attention,as Vanz slashed at the creature with his rune blade,making some elemantal damage,Cal slashed him from many sides confusing him a bit,making an opening for vanz and the rest.
The creature got probably mad as he hit both Cal and Vanz with one hit sending them flying backwards.They managed to land on their feet with not too much damage taken......
(I'm sorry for controlling Damien a bit,if you don't like it I edit)

"Ah screw it, I think I have an ether!" Lee yelled out as he reached into the bag. "A Turbo Ether. Even better," he exclaimed and used the turbo ether.
"Frozen Metal!" he screamed as he used it again, while the beast was turned. The ice cold blade had striken its back bone make it paralyzed for the next couple of moments.
"Hit the darned thing already, what are you waiting for?" Lee cried as he prepared another hit. A moment. Arrow flied. Another... arrow... "Ouch!" an arrow had striken him in the shoulder from some of the archers. He heared a sorry and was healed up again.
He preformed another frozen metal, but the beast immidiatly healed from Paralisis and dodged the hit. He punched Lee to the ground then, raised his axe and hit him over the head...
[You've Been Anhilated. Please Log on Again and Reclaim your Equipment at the inn.]
"What the freaking hell?!" Kain yelled out. "You damned thing!" he was furious at the beast.
Logging on...
"Gimme my equipment, now!" Lee yelled.
"What is your name?"
"Lee freaking Forte II!"
"I am sorry, there is no Lee Freaking Forte II"
"Bah! Its Lee Forte II!"
"Wait just a moment..."
He waited while the equipment was being reequiped. "Have a fun play!"
"Oh I'll be luaghed at for this. An elite player beaten by a stupid skeleton!" He hurried to the farm the very same path, until he realized that his death had caused him to raise a level! He had now learned Double Frozen Metal! Happy for his own death, he had arrived at the scene, Skelly still trying to fight the rest.
"Hey bones!" Lee yelled. "Eat this!" he launched The Double Frozen Metal which did just enough damage to be pushing it backwards into the barn, about 2 feet, no more.. "Trap him in, and set it on fire, that'll do some damage!!" Lee yelled out.

Mazeel reached the Caves of Docility just as midnight struck, The entrance to the main cave gave off a dank dark aura and Mazeel hesitated, He knew what lie beyond, His tomb, the burial place of his mortal remains and the weapon that might enable him to beat the skeleton.
Mazeel entered the cave and followed the arcane symbols on the wall till he reached a beautifully ornate door. Mazeel placed his hand on the glyph that opens the door, it swung open and Mazeel saw his worst memory, the place of his resurrectionm, The room was lit by torches the faint glow cast by them reached the sarcophagus. Mazeel went over to it and swung it open, As expected there was no body of course but the one item Mazeel wanted, The Hammer of Frost.
Picking up his former weapon Mazeel felt the chill of the Ice enchanted warhammer and smiled, this is just what he needed.
Mazeel crept in his coffin and slept.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next evening mazeel awoke and plundered the rest of his former treasures.
After searching the rest of the caves Mazeel headed towards the town once more when he heard the sounds of battle, he saw one of the questors fighting the skeleton, "I can't help you yet." Mazeel said to himself and continued he had to find the damn elf and the barbarian, Mazeel had a new plan.

"Hey, aren't you a white mage?" Yumeko looked up to see Lee called out to her and gave him an inquiring look.
"Well, gimme some Mp, fast!"
The healer did a quick check on her ether supply to find it much too low for her liking and shook her head, her face taking on an apologetic look. Yumeko looked worriedly at Lee who muttered a 'Fine...' and went back to dealing with the monster.
Her frown deepening, Yumeko pondered whether to restock or not, but her thoughts were interrupted and decision pushed firmly towards one option by Damien, who turned towards her from nearby and said, "Hey, if you need to restock I suggest you do it now. We'll distract it until you get back..."
She nodded and narrowed her eyes when the Great Skeleton Lord slammed Damien back several feet. Then she smiled gratefully when she saw him use a potion on himself, probably wanting her to conserve her remaining MP. Her smile further widened when dark elf offered to heal while she restock.
Not wanting to waste time, Yumeko teleported back to Bona headquarters, in the storage where her abundant stock of ether is kept, surprising Julienel who looked up from examining his weapon for faults.
"Yume? What's the rush?"
"Urgent ether restock." Replying as she went to her storage and grabbed a few bags which contained a couple dozens of ether each.
Julienel's face lit up and he asked enthusiastically, "Where's the battle?"
"Quest business, Ju." Yumeko gave him a quick smile when she saw his fallen face and disappeared from sight with a quick goodbye, amusing the other Bona member with the use of the quick but high-level and MP-eating teleportation spell that can reach anywhere in the medieval world within a mere few seconds. To his knowledge, Yumeko had only used the spell not more than twenty times, even when she was busy saving their butt during clan wars with Torlanova.
Yumeko blinked away her dizziness as she appeared at the spot where she was, right behind Miri-Miri. The side-effect to Instant Move, the self-teleportation spell, that took out three-quarter of her MP to use, is a strong feeling of dizziness that will fade only after a few seconds. She was just in time to see Cal and Vanz flew backwards from the beast's blow and she quickly cast a mass healing spell that took everyone's HP to full.
"I'm back, leave the healing to me." She announced to the others as she used an ether and began casting Reverse Osmose on the MP-low questors and replenishing the Advanced Guardian Deity. Finally, before she could rest, she recast Double Protection which had weakened from most probably a fireball blast.
Miri-Miri's look was thoughtful as she turned towards the elfess. "Yumeko, want to try something with me?"
"Yes?" The healer glanced at Miri-Miri after she used another low level healing spell absentmindedly on someone who was just took some minor damage. She realized that she was losing concentration and she wasn't happy about it, but she kept her feelings from surfacing on her face.
The Kreem took out a pair of rings from her knapsack. "These are the Rings Bequeathen, which is a name too fancy for what they can actually do. These are practically worthless since they can do nothing by themselves even if you wear one on both ring fingers. It takes two people working together to use their power. We can each take one, and using the rings we can combine our magic." Miri-Miri paused a while, thinking. "We don't even have to stop there. We could use the Rings to imbibe a physical weapon with magic... say the sword of Lord Vanz?" Miri-Miri's eyes were glinting.
"Hmm... it's possible... it's more than possible." Yumeko grinned, the serious feeling around her disappeared while the smile remained. "Since the monster is an undead, I guess a holy spell will do some damage... no, I think Sacred Beam should be able to do quite a lot of damage if combined with another spell of the correct element... say ice?"
Miri-Miri snapped her fingers. "You know, a good old-fashioned Freeze Nova can work wonders. How shall we do this?"
Both females turned simultaneously. "Oh, Vaaannnzzz!"
"Yes?" The startled and confused elf lord turned and was faced with two smiling female faces that seems to be up to no good. His confusion soon turned into a grin when he heard what Miri-Miri proposed. A single thought sounded in all of their minds, the Great Skeleton Lord is going to learn that they are not to be messed with.

(jesus, thanks for waiting)
Don agreed with Dave that they should get back down there and get to work. The monster was heading out of the woods last Llewyn saw of it, and heading god knows where. Well whoever was controlling it, whoever or whatever program. Somone mentioned the Avron plains, Don quickly got onto his computer and logged back in.

Llewyn was fully healed since Don last left him, and it didn't take long for him to start heading towards the Avron plains. A blinking thing popped up on his screen, it was Vanz asking him to party... Don cringed, never before had he hit the accept button and joined a party, however he was no match for the skeleton alone. Begrudgingly he clicked the accept button and soon became part of the party. He could see where they were, for the most part gathering in the Avron plains, some seemed to be getting hurt, they were fighting the thing already. Llewyn increased his pace into a full on run, readying his bow and two arrows, two holy arrows. Arriving onto the scene he saw the two mages casting spells, and two men with bows, only one arrow managed to make it's mark as he approached. Llewyn laughed a bit to himself and came to a stop. "This is how you fire an arrow," he called out, taking great aim he carefully waited until the skeleton was turned towards him. Watching it's movements carefully he waited for a few more moments, the other archer must have thought him a fool to wait so long to fire, but soon enough Llewyn loosed the holy arrows, they streaked across in a white flash. One of them just missed one of the eyesockets still connecting with the skull doing holy damage to the undead beast. The other made it's mark, and sent the skeleton back a foot or so, quickly Llewyn drew two more holy arrows from his sheath. "Alright you bastard, you nearly got me last time, let's see how you like this." He took aim and when the opportunity presented itself he loosed the second set of arrows.
(sorry for this being so short, I'm dead tired as it's 4:30 am and I haven't slept yet.)

Vanz stood up after being knocked by the Skeleton together with Cal. "Cal, think you can still hold it on?" Vanz asked. The Elven samurai nodded his head and held his two katanas threateningly in front of him, resembling that of the legendary Japanese samurai, Musashi. Vanz smiled and was about to charge when he heard two voices calling him.
"Oh, Vaaannnzzz!" Miri-Miri and Yumeko said together in a very sweet tone. Vanz stopped in his tracks and turned, confused as to what happened.
"Yes?" Vanz asked nervously, with a large sweatdrop on his head. Miri-Miri grinned and signalled for Vanz to go to her. Vanz looked over at Cal, who nodded and gave a thumbs up. "Hang on! I'll be back soon!"
"Don't worry about it!" Another voice called out, this time a stronger and deeper tone. Vanz turned to see Telsanon unsheathing his sword and holding it in an offensive position. "Just hurry up and get it over and done with. Cal and I will handle that thing for now. Let's go!" Telsanon roared and jumped at the monster, with Cal supporting him. Vanz hurriedly ran over to Miri-Miri.
"Ok, what now?" Vanz asked, and noticed the rings on Yumeko and Miri-Miri. "Oh boy, tell me that these are not..." Miri-Miri did not have to wait for Vanz to finish his sentences and nodded immediately. "No wonder..."
Miri-Miri grinned mischieviously. "Now, as you know, these rings are capable of combining spells and their elements into one spell, and so, what we thought of is this. Yumeko would cast Sacred Beam, a holy type, and I will cast Freeze Nova, ice type."
"Didn't Lee mention that fire is its weakness?" Vanz questioned. Miri-Miri shook her head. "Fire is an agressive element and thus, would not be able to merge well with holy type magicks."
"Oh yes, how can I forget?" Vanz slapped his forehead. "So after you girls merge the spells, what next?"
"It's ladies to you, Lord Vanz." Miri-Miri frowned and grinned. "Anyway, we will then require you to imbue it on your Runic Blade, since it is capable of amplifying magicks."
"Well, seems like my little secret is being discovered by you, eh? You know everything about weapons, don't you?" Vanz smiled nervously. "So I'll have to attack the Great Skeleton while you ladies watch?!" Vanz exclaimed. Miri-Miri and Yumeko nodded their head simultaneously, making Vanz's eyebrows twitch in disbelief. Sighing in resignation, Vanz nodded his head. "I'll do it. Now, hurry!"
Yumeko rolled up her sleeve and held up the Staff of Hestia. "Sacred Beam!" yumeko creid out. A large white beam shone down from the heavens and onto the land they stood on. The ring on Yumeko's finger shone brightly, and the Sacred Beam was absorbed inside, like a warped portal. The ring glowed dimly, heavily imbued with the effects of Sacred Beam.
:eaving no time to waste, Miri-Miri closed her eyes briefly, only to open it wide and holding her hand out, a vortex of wind gathered, slowly turning blue in colour. "Freeze Nova!" The vortex grew larger and slowly congregates into a large ice form. Like Sacred Beam, Freeze Nova was absorbed into the ring and it glowed bluish. Almost immediately, the two rings flashed brightly and the spells sped out of the rings and merged in midair, creating a vortex of blue and white. Moments later, a ball of white shining energy met their eyes, levitating halfway from the ground.
Vanz immediately got to work, focusing his magic onto his Runic Blade. "Enchant Weapon!" Vanz cried out as he hit the combined spell with the Runic Blade. The spell was cleaved, and simultaneously sucked into the blade itself. As a sign of magical enchantment, the sword shone brightly, and revealing a blade of light blue. Vanz felt a surge pf energy flowing from his sword and into him. "Wow, this...this is really powerful." Vanz commented.
"Alright then, we'll leave the rest to you, Vanz." Miri-Miri winked and said. Yumeko nodded her head.
"And I'll leave the distracting to you guys, then." Vanz said with a smile and ran off, where Cal and Telsanon were fighting against the Skeleton. "Telsanon! Cal! I need you to distract it as much as possible away from me! Can you do it?!" Vanz cried out as he ran towards them. Telsanon laughed and he parried the monster's attack.
"Consider it done, Elf!" Telsanon replied and made another attack on the Skeleton. Of course, nothing less could be expected from the Babarian of Legend, Telsanon. Cal nodded his head in reply as well, and delievered a cross cut on the Skeleton.
"Cal! Watch out!" Vanz shouted from a distance. Cal looked up to see the Glass Axe falling straight for him. As an instinct, Cal positioned his katanas into a cross shape and attempted to block the attack. Sure enough, it stopped the attack and Cal smiled. Then, something went wrong.
"Vanz! Jump and aim for its head!" Cal shouted as the Glass Axe broke through his defence and hit Cal. Cal vanished from the battlefield.
"Darn!" Phoenix banged his hand on the table. "Gene, go get him!"
Gene smiled and bit his lips as he continued his assault on the Skeleton. Vanz jumped up and aimed his blade at the skull of the skeleton. The Skeleton noticed Vanz and was about to hit Vanz when an arrow hit the Skeleton and deflected its attack. Vanz turned briefly to see Llewyn nodding his head with his bow in hand and Lee giving a thumbs up. Vanz smiled as he landed directly onto the Skeleton and plunged the blade into its skull. The Skeleton swiped Vanz off it with a mighty sweep from its unarmed arm, sending Vanz crashing into a nearby tree and falling. Vanz struggled and held his hand up. 'Unleash! Sacred Nova!"
The Runic Blade shone brightly in the skull of the Great Skeleton Lord and then, the spell was unleashed. A bright pillar of holy light shone around the Great Skeleton Lord, sending it howling in holy pain. The Freeze Nova exploded from within, and together with Sacred Beam, the explosion made the Great Skeleton Lord burst into thousand of pieces, vanishing almost instantly. Vanz smiled and closed his eyes for a short rest, as the Runic Blade flew and stuck itself into the ground right beside Vanz.
(OOC: Phew...finally ended it. I used Cal with permission and the fight was ended by a collaboration between seluna, Adelaine and me. Next monster, we will be acting as supporting characters, so you guys think of something for it. ^^;; Next post please post on the quest item on the floor or something, left by the Great Skeleton Lord.)
Lee came up to Vanz quickly. "I could do that," he said, "But I didn't want to. Meh." He said and then walked towards Telsenon. "You're a barbarian, right?" Lee questioned. He put his hand into his bag to find the Club of Trolls, "The NPC gave it to me. And since I don't think anyone else can use it... You keep it."
Kain checked Lee's stats to find out that the man had recieved a 2 level up, and realized that his ability had finally began to move up in levels to. He noticed new skills, Stone Sword, Double Melt. Metal, Double Froz. Metal, Earth Move, Dark Strike. Apperently the Fifniel had caused him to stop learning skills for some reason, and the Club of Trolls, or maybe, the boss battle let him get the skills.
'I have got to get a new sword.' he thought. 'Damn it! I forgot about the cross! It woulda made things so much easier...'
"So... whats that legendary item?"
[OOC: No one found it odd that my charactor had two permenent skills? Ah well, my charactor should buy a sword or something. Oh yeah, sorry for the extremly short post, but I had to do it to tie some loose ends.

16 August 2004 The first monster is dead. Sayonara, Great Skeleton Lord. Woo-hoo! Hail the conquering heroes! I can remember the fires burning in the monster's eyes as he laid waste upon the plains of Avron. Cal and Telsanon had distracted him while Yume and I combined our magic to enable Vanz to defeat the monster. It was amazing how those guys worked together. In all my time of playing Cyberwatch, I've never yet seen quite anything like what we had done. As I watched Lord Vanz weave and sumersault, avoiding the flames and the glass axe, until finally stabbing his magickal blade at the hideous great head, I didn't realize I had been holding my breath all the while. Gene's so amazing. I think I have a crush on the guy. He's exactly the same person IRL as he is online. And I gotta admit, I'm impressed with how he had pulled it off. Although, he does tend to.. well, show off a little. Not as much as Lee, of course. Oddly, I was expecting Llewlyn (Don) to be more of a braggart, but the guy actually turned out pretty cool. Cal and Telsanon... they're great, Really. And Yumeko wasn't as bad as I thought she was. She and I got along very well while we were in the thick of things. Looking back, I didn't really do anything much, but I'm glad I was there. It was Fun. I'd do it all over again. |
The room erupted with cheers. Gene and Phoenix shared a quick hi-five, and Xeilan could be heard giggling a little, so glad was everyone to have defeated the first legendary monster.
But Kyle didn't notice any of this. All that her mind could see was the monitor screen, beyond it the now-quiet battlefield and the auto-rendered sun that was just breaking over the world's vitrual horizon.
A soft arid wind blew across the plains as the Questors surveyed their surroundings, as well as checking for what level ups they had acquired (assuming they got any). A pale light shone over the treetops to the east, and the lightening sky was blessedly clear. It was almost morning.
Lee was heard asking aloud, "So what's the legendary item?" Vanz merely shrugged. As far as he could tell, the monster was dead, and all they got for it was an immobile monster corpse that had no signs of disappearing and leaving an item, as monsters usually did in the Cyberwatch worlds. A couple of the others were walking towards the corpse to check it out.
No one was paying attention to Miri-Miri, but if anyone did they would've noticed that she was very quiet. Too quiet. Suddenly her entire body glowed, there was a blinding flash, and then a slender man(?) in a dark cloak had replaced the Kreem merchant.
It was done in reflex, and what happened next happened so fast there was no warning at all. Telsanon swung his fist forward, aiming for the dark man's head. The man ducked and Telsanon attacked, time and again his blows missing. Punch, punch, kick, dodge. A huge hand thrust forward, and all of a sudden the man was hanging by the neck, his feet dangling helplessly in mid-air.
But it wasn't a man. It was a young girl. And her deep hazel eyes flashed in annoyance. "It's me, Tel. Put me down please. I don't have much time in this form."
Telsanon blinked. "Miri-Miri?" The girl nodded, and grudgingly he put her down. "You could have at least warned us," he grumbled.
Briskly the girl walked past a couple of questors and over to the corpse, bending down on one knee. Something flashed in her hand, and in the dim light scan lines seemed to suddenly move across the monster's inanimate body. And then girl and monster faded out at the same time, while a little blue-skirted form faded in at the spot where they were.
Miri-Miri walked back towards the others, holding out something in her hands. She showed it to everyone. It was big enough to fit in both her palms. A broken shard of an ancient crest.
The screen went black.
"What the--!" Simultaneous curses were heard in the room where the real-life questors were. All the monitors had gone black and the PCs have seemingly shut down.
Without warning, something blinked on all of the questors' screens. "Questors have found one Legendary Piece of the Legendary Crest, to defeat Legendary Virus of the Legendary Game." The text remained onscreen for only a few seconds, faded out, and then the PCs shut down compeletely.
The room went quiet, as the significance of what had happened slowly sank into the questor's minds.
Kyle felt someone shake her shoulder, and she raised her head up, only then realizing that she had fallen asleep on the keyboard. "You okay?" Gene was asking. "Tired? I think we're done for tonight, so hang in there."
"I'm cool," Kyle nodded and smiled at him reassuringly. She glanced at the door, looking if Nigel had arrived with any news.

To: Talan <Angel_Infinity@free.com.ph> From: Arthur V <xanxan@madcow.org> Time: 16 August 2018 11:58 pm Subject: global system crash i take it you heard what happened. you must've been there. almost all the forums i visit were flooded with people's questions about this 'legendary crest' thing. whatever it is you guys have done, it affected the entire cyberwatch system. no one could log on anywhere for a full two hours after everything just crashed. what happened? can we meet online? |
[OoC: Monty, I was thinking that the hacker should have some announcement if ever one of the legendary monsters get defeated, so I took the liberty of making one. I'll edit later if you don't like it.]
"Jesus! Its 6 AM, already?" Kain said. "Guys, perhaps we should be done with it and go to the hotel?"
Everyone looked at him. "Isn't anyone tired? I mean, I know we all came from different parts of the world and stuff, but come on, jet lag must be making you sleepy?" Some nods, grunts, etc. "Or maybe if you aren't go take a look at Seatle, nice city and all. Anyway... You aren't going to stay here for the night, Imma gonna be off, now!"
He walked into the hall and into the elevator, Floor 1. He checked the change in his pocket, just to tip the men at the hotel. The elevator reached floor 1, and Kain walked out of the elevator. Not walked. No. Dragged himself out. The security guards were changing shifts now. Outside the city was quiet enough, too exept for the obvious sounds of the night. Dogs, cats, cars, etcentera. Conviniently, the hotel was just down the street. He walked down the street further, and got into the hotel Hilton. He checked his pockets for the key card. Lost.
"Damn it." he muttered, no key card. He came up to the counter, "Execuse me, Kain Smere here?"
The woman at the counter nodded. "Yes, you're in room 316," she said.
"Yeah... But I sort of... LOST my keycard."
"Man, do you people do it on purpouse or what? You're the 10th today!"
"Am I really?"
"Yeah. I won't give you a new one, try not to lose it."
She handed him over a key card and he continued walking to another elevator. Up to floor 5. Down to Room 316... open door, fall on bed. Like a rutiene.
"I'm beat. Goodnight, Kain!" he said to himself.
[ OOC: The city was given to me by Monty, so now you all know. You obviously won't continue with Cyberwatch till morning, right? Because thats what I set it up to be. Go explore the city? Meh ]

When he reached his bike he though back..."Get back at the after-noon for the next briefing." Nigel said as the people were leaving.
"Hmmm....pizza!!"he said loudly to himself and sat on the bike riding to nearest pizza shop, taking a big peperoni pizza with extra cheese(now I'm hungry) and got home to he sister.
They watched the movies few hours and Crystal(sister) felt asleep on the coach in front of the TV....Phoenix took a blanket over her and went quitely out and headed back to Nigel's building on his bike....

Jeremy stared at his system in awe...He couldn't believe it...They beat it. He laughed silently to himself when his screen blacked out. He swore and looked at the screen to read what had appeared.
"Questors have found one Legendary Piece of the Legendary Crest, to defeat Legendary Virus of the Legendary Game."
"What the...What's this?"
Jeremy read the screen for a second when every PC shut down. He shook his head for a moment, not quite sure what had just happened. He sat there thinking to himself when Kain spoke up.
"Jesus! Its 6 AM, already?" he said to the group. "Guys, perhaps we should be done with it and go to the hotel?"
Jeremy listened as Kain spoke, asking if the group was tired, and after suggesting that those who weren't tired to go look around the city. Jeremy yawned, though he wasn't tired. Slowly the group began to disperse from the small room. Jeremy was one of the last to leave. He didn't really feel like going back to the hotel and going to sleep, how could he? That fight had left him wide awake. He decided to take Kain's advice and go to check out the city...after all, it wasn't very often that he left his hometown. He figured he'd make the best of it while he could.
"Where to first?" he said looking around outside. Just then his stomach answered for him. "Oh man...I really should have eaten something earlier. I'm not going to find anyplace open at around this time..."
He looked around...he really was hungry. Suddenly he looked up. It turned out he had wandered off and gotten himself lost.
"Ah Son of a....." he didn't know how to get back to the hotel, didn't know how to get back to the building in whence he had come from, so basically he was screwed. "Guess I just wait it out...I'll find my way back when there's a little more light outside."
With that he sat down on a curve and simply waited for light.

The second volley of arrows met their mark in the large skeleton's eyes, the peircing damage from the shafts was minimal, however the holy damage from the imbued arrows were quite a drain on the skeleton, especially considering where they landed. Llewyn withdrew the last holy arrow, not bothering to draw another one with it. He took aim as the one known as lord Vanz readied himself with whatever he was about to do. Llewyn surveyed the plan, holding off on firing his arrow. Vanz charged the large skeletal beast and was about to get whacked by his axe, Llewyn saw what was coming about and quickly loosed the arrow, but not before pulling back on the bow further. The holy arrow zinged from his bow and hit the axe deflecting it from skewing the elf. Two of the others had already been taken out by the axe, it seemed this elf knew what he was doing and Llewyn would be damned if he was going to lose more help. Sure enough the arrow deflected the axe and allowed Vanz to pull off his attack. His blade imbued by the two magic users tore into the giant skeleton and shattered him into peices.
Still he was dissapointed that he needed help in defeating this monster, it shouldn't have been so. He sighed, the monster was defeated, and as swiftly as Llewyn had arrived he dissapeared. His goal was accomplished, and until the next challenge he had no need to be with the others. Bringing up the party window Don exited the party after the beast was destroyed. It gave Llewyn a nice chunk of experience but being level 70 it didn't do as much for him as it did the other members of the party. Don was ready to go hunting for some high level game when the screen went blank.
"What the hell?" He said outloud as the computer just stopped working.
He sighed, and the others talked about how it was so late and they should get to bed. Don wasn't sure, so he decided to wait for Nigel to come down, knowing he would because they managed to get rid of one of the monsters.

Dante logged off, He searched around the room and spotted another young looking guy, He knew this guy used Vanz and was responsible for Mazeels lack of use in the fight, Dante walked up to him "Hey man good work" Dante extended his hand as did Vanzs owner, Dante withdrew his arm and launched a right hook at the guys head. Dante walked away and sat down in his chair.
He decided to kill sometime before Nigel came in.
Logging into Filenze, Dante recognized Aerun Falcon AKA Eldar.
Eldar walked down the street his confidence rising again he wondered where his partner was. A movement caught his eye and he spotted Talon a criminal whose bounty was worth $10,000. Eldar ran down but Talon got a glimpse of Eldar, Talon started running, Dante sent a message to his partner and stored it in his ships message bank, Hoping his partner would check the ships message bank .

Gene celebrated with the rest briefly when a figure approached him. "Hey man good work" Dante said as he extended his hand for a handshake. Gene blinked for a while and soon extended his when Dante withdrew his hand immediately and delivered a right hook punch across Gene's face. Gene reached out for support and found it in the form of his CPU. Almost instinctively, Gene looked up at Dante, almost wanting to counterattack, when he saw Dante walking back to his seat.
"What the hell..." Gene cursed as he wiped off the blood from the corner of his mouth. "Now, I'm gonna get ulcer on my lips. Great..." Gene sighed. This was why he never wanted to attract too much attention with his characters. "Now, I really don't like Mazeel and Dante."
"Are you alright?" Phoenix asked as he helped Gene up.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I guess." Gene said as he straightened himself up.
"Anyway, good work there." Phoenix said as he extended his hand out.
"You're not gonna punch me too, right?" Gene asked cautiously. Phoenix looked at Gene for a while and laughed. Smiling, Gene shook Phoenix's hand firmly.
"Jesus! Its 6 AM, already?" Kain said. "Guys, perhaps we should be done with it and go to the hotel?" Gene looked at his watch and gasped. The jet lag certainly was something he did not get used to. Kain proceeded walking out of the room. Gene stood for a moment, wondering where he should go. He wasn't feeling the least bit tired after a long game, and he certainly didn't want to rest in his hotel room at this time.
"I guess we'll wait for Nigel to come down." Gene said to the rest of his teammates. "After that, maybe you guys wanna go chill at some place or another? I mean, it's my first time here in Seattle."
"Sounds great to me," Kyle replied. "I had the same idea in mind as well. Just that...it's 6 am in the morning?" Kyle looked at Gene with an eyebrow raised.
"Maybe we can do that, say, tomorrow night or something?" Xielian approached Gene and asked. Gene smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, I guess you girls are right. Alright then, let's treat it like a post-celebration for the 3 of us, shall we?" Gene looked at his watched and tapped his foot. "Nigel sure is taking a long time to come down here."

"Is Nigel even *yawn* coming?" Xielian mumbled sleepily. She could barely keep her eyes opened and if not because she is leaning against a table, she would be swaying on her feet. Jet lag with the addition of immense concentration had taken out all her energy and now she want nothing more than to sleep.
"You okay?" Someone noticed her struggle to stay awake and asked with concern. She looked up to face the person and gave him a drowsy smile. She opened her mouth to reply that she is fine but a well-timed yawn made it obvious that she is not. "Why don't you go back to the hotel first? I'll contact you later... what's your number?"
Reciting off a string of numbers absentmindedly, she thanked the person for his concern, said her goodbyes and 'see you tomorrow's, and went towards the lift. Jabbing at the button of the ground floor, Xielian allowed her body melt against the lift wall and let her mind slipped into a semi-sleeping mode, not caring if she is in familiar ground or not in her tiredness.
'Sleepwalking' the short-distance to the hotel and up to her room, Xielian did the first thing every need-for-sleep person will do, she slumped on her bed and dived straight into the pool called deep slumber. She did not even bothering to take off her shoes or toss her little bag aside, and did not move a single inch for the next eight hours.
[OOC: ^^; dang... I couldn't advance the post pass the next morning because if I do... it will be afternoon when she wakes up and I have no idea what you guys are planning for the next day.]

Nigel was watching the party since there valiant run to the computers, two groups before this could not beat the Great Skeleton Lord, he wondered if this would be the group. Then he chuckled to himself, not likely, the way they work together it would take a miracle. Nigel finished his meal and walked to the elevator nonchalantly, he knew they would probably go straight there.
He got to his computer and sat down. He watched as one by one, each one seemed to die. All in all, it was quite amusing. Then something strange happened he noticed something Yumeko and Miri-Miri, he hadn't really noticed them before as they were just healing, but then Miri-Miri pulled out two rings and the two both put one on each finger. Hmm. Nigel thought, this girl Miri-Miri, is more than she seems. Perhaps, I will keep my eye on her.Then Nigel saw them each cast a spell and load it into Vanz's sword. Nigel thought this might be the end for the skeleton lord. Very creative, perhaps this team might go farther. This is not something I particularly expected.Oh, they did it. They killed the Great skeleton, and they all worked together, this could mean this is the group.
Nigel, sits back and watches as Miri-Miri retrieves the skeleton's effects, what is that she saying.. I see..I see the hacker has a message for the questors.
*Ring Ring*
huh? What?
*Ring Ring*
Nigel picks up the phone.
"The President of CyberWatch wishes to see you, Nigel," spoke Ms. Brown the Presidents Personal Assistant. Nigel had a severe hatred for the President, before he became the CEO, Nigel worked under him, and did everything for him, that man couldn't walk himself out of a bag, thought Nigel.
"I'll be up in two seconds, Ms. Brown," Nigel replied.
Nigel got into the elevator and went up to the top floor. "He will see you now," said Ms. Brown. Of course he would thought Nigel, I pretty much run this company.
"Nigel, all our servers are down, they got the piece and then everything stopped, we have our entire staff he trying to reboot everything, it is putting a huge drain on our resources." the president spoke frantically.
Nigel replied. "It seems to me it is obvious that the hacker, is toying with us. He understands this, and wants to be beaten it seems. However, he is going to be a nuisance, and the fact that this happened seems to prove that. This server crash might be to insert the next monster. In fact, I am pretty certain of it."
"Oh," said the president, "I see."
With that Nigel left the office, he had to get some information on the next monster, and where it was going to be. He went into his office. And sat down. There was a note on the screen.

I am watching you....

Huh, he is better than Nigel thought. Nigel pressed escape and came back to the last screen. It was showing a mutant, with control of the water element. That could be tough thought Nigel, physical blows are halved by this thing. It seems it weakness lies in electricity. I hope the team can handle that.

"Miss! Miss!" Kain whispered as loud as he could to wake up the sleeping clerk. "Miss! Its 7 in the morning! Wake up!" he waited for a moment, and then saw her open her eyes.
"Jeez, kid... what is it, you lost it, again?" she muttered.
"No, but I came here in concerns of that," Kain replied. "Could you keep the keycard with you?"
"Yeah...whatever..." she muttered, and once more fell into her slumber. Kain slid the keycard onto the counter. He walked out the hotel, he couldn't get much sleep, so he decided to visit his uncle, who lived in Seattle. Kain knew the only bus that went to his area, but he was glad to have a map of Seatle provided, ever so thoughtfully, by the Cyberwatch employees. So he got on a bus, and rode to the familiar 10 story apartment building.
As he got off the bus, he saw a familiar face, not his uncle's, or one of his neighbors, but it was Jeremy. Surprised by the encounter he aproached him.
"Hey, what the hell are YOU doing here?"
"You stole the words out of my mouth," Jeremy said.
"My uncle lives here, and you're probobly lost, right?"
Jeremy nodded.
"Lets go, I'll show you him. He's quite a cool guy," Kain said. He and Jeremy headed into the apartment building where they rode to the 6th floor. Knock on the door.
"Who is it!?" a voice on the other said asked.
"Kain!"
"Kain?! What in the name of God are you doing here?"
"Hanging around, you know I was recruited for Cyberwatch and all."
"Right, who's that with you?"
"Jeremy, I'll explain the whole thing," Kain and Jeremy walked into the apartment, a room that was rather big was the living the room, a TV, a couch, a magazine that was rather.. adult could be seen from under the couch. That was about it. The floor was too dirty for such a plain room. You can say the trash was decoration. Kain explained the entire thing to him, from being recruited for the quest, up to the part on finding Jeremy.
"Cool, so why're you here, though?" the uncle asked.
"Just visiting, Roy," Kain said. "Say, can I check my emails on your computer?"
"Go ahead, I don't use that thing much, anyway."
Kain turned on the computer, and went to his usual website for checking emails...
"Jeremy, get over here!" Kain called. "We should go back to the headquarters, I have a feeling Jinel is going to be needed! Roy, I'm going for now... If you need me, for one reason, or another, I am at the Starlight Hotel!"
"Got it, Kain!" The uncle said back.
As Kain and Jeremy rushed out of the room, Uncle Roy had come up to the computer, and looked at the email that Kain recieved, he came to the desk on which the computer was on, and opened a drawer..
"Cyberwatch Ver. 6.351" it said, "Double Pack". He smiled and poped the game in...
[OOC: Daemon, sorry for taking the liberty of using your char a bit, but it won't harm you, too much, you've pretty much dug a hole for yourself. Tell me if I should get rid of it, though]

It had been a very short debriefing from Nigel, if debriefing it could even be called. Kyle sighed inwardly. This lack of information on Cyberwatch's part was simply driving her nuts.
Nuthin' but an message...
Oh, it wasn't the lack of info on the worlds that bugged her; as a veteran player of two years, she more or less knew the Medieval and Futuristic worlds like the figurative back of her hand. What annoyed her was that CyberWatch wasn't telling them anything at all about this hacker business. Wasn't that why they were brought up there in the first place?
Her head plopped (again) onto the table, partly due to her frustration. The other reason she realized a couple of seconds later--she was very, very sleepy. She looked around, noticing only a few people who remained in the room. Kain and Jeremy had gone, the first two to leave, and even Xielan and few of the others had already hot-footed to their hotel rooms for some well-deserved rest.
"I don't think Nigel is going to come down anymore," she whispered to Gene, a little groggily. She didn't remember the rest of their conversation afterwards. Although, she vaguely remembered Gene offering to walk her to her hotel (or did she just imagine it? She felt herself beginning to blush unbidden and had to lightly slap her cheek to get her bearings and dignity back.) If he did then she had refused the offer. Either way, it was a quick and quiet stroll to her room on the seventh floor of a hotel that was a two-block distance from the CyberWatch headquarters. She thought she saw a couple of kids that looked like Kain and Jeremy walking in the opposite direction, but she just shrugged it off; she was too tired to think at the moment.
She was stopped at the lobby desk by the receptionist, who gave her an official package. Kyle opened it upon reaching her room; it was the Double Pack version of the Game. Her laptop (more powerful than the Pocket PC!) was lying closed on her desk beside the quilted bed, right where she had left it. She decided to briefly check her mail, just in case.
So, XanXan was asking for an online meeting. Meeting inside the Game was out of the question, of course, especially given the state it was in. Kyle had an uncanny feeling that somone was watching her moves in the Cyberwatch worlds. Then there was the nagging thought that she had somehow already tipped her hand too quickly, too soon. Nigel? No, she didn't think she had to worry about him. She had done nothing illegal.
Not yet. First things first, she had to find a way to get her character hacks working without Nigel detecting them. Fat chance of that happening, she stopped herself in mid-thought. The moment she tried anything, she was sure Nigel would know. Maybe XanXan was right, and that she never should have entered the contest in the first place, in which way she'd then have more freedom...
She must have her character hacks. Deep in her gut, she knew that she--they-- would need the hacks to find the true enemy. Behind the monsters were the legendary items, and behind the items were the virus, and behind the virus was the hacker who had stolen the source code. That was where the crux of the matter lay.
Whatever the hacker's reason, there must be a link between the two worlds. After all, everything they see on the monitor is nothing more than interpreted data of zeros and ones, charged bits of silicon running on electricity.
Kyle had never been one to play the whole Game through, start to end, without going out of her (and everyone else's) way to get the side-stories. Deep down, it was the technology behind the Game that intrigued her, not just the Game itself. And this dumb hacker had beaten her to it.
She forcibly choked down a laugh. Was that it? Was that the reason she was so bent on finding this hacker, seemingly she alone of the current group of questors? Because someone was better than her at it?
Suddenly she realized that she couldn't keep her eyes open anymore. After hurriedly changing and cleaning up, she managed to finally plop into the bed. Her eyes were closed fast as she snuggled into her pillows.
She blinked bleary brown eyes, and wondered where she was. "Ehh...?" Pink drapes? Since when were the blue-tinted windows of her room ever fitted with frilly pink drapes...? And then she remembered the hotel room, Seattle, Cyberwatch, the Game, the Legendary thingies, and the entire mess she was in. And then she decided she was hungry.
After a quick bite (she always had spare rations of chocolate in her knapsack) and her morning rituals (which may conviniently be performed in the afternoon should the occasion call for it), she headed back to the CyberWatch headquarters and the questors' room in the 26th floor. On the way, she made a mental note to email XanXan about their meeting place. Preferrably a public chat room, where the sheer number of people would mask them in anonymity.
Time to log on. The world was Filenze, this time.
No new messages. Talan put her Pocket PC on standby. She was in the Filenze Torlanova HQ, an underground hostel in the outskirts of the Ielien city, right next to the tunnel entrance leading to the Pernan Thieves' Guild.
First thing she needed to do was to restock, a task she completed in twenty seconds. Then Talan crossed two rooms to the key item stash and walked directly to the NPC in charge. "I need a map of the Level 20 sectors."
The man was a cyborg from Ketharis, unkempt and a little rough around the edges, but with a very keen eye for value. No good or item could pass by his hands without him knowing its attributes... or if it had been tampered with. Such talent had saved the lives of a few clan members, while it had gotten others into trouble.
"Heading out?" the Ketharis asked. "Mission or stroll? You know my policy on missions."
Talan just winked at him as she palmed the disc card he handed her. "Mission, unofficial of course. But I won't get in the way of any smuggling runs this time, I promise."
She walked out of the headquarters and into the world outside.
By all rights, I should be sitting this mission out. But how can I just stand idly by and do nothing? I am Tagahabi ng Tadhana, the Fate Weaver. I am given the role, and I will play it out the best I can, until whatever end this story of ours shall weave.
Even if my role means nothing more than sitting back and letting others do the killing. Talan pulled at her cape a little tighter before walking down into the city complexes, cape and her long hair blowing in an arid breeze.
Nuthin' but an message...

It's funny, but everytime I log onto CyberWatch... I sometimes think I can actualy feel the world. Maybe it's just my strong imagination, I don't know. I know that I do lose focus and tend to phase out, sometimes. There was once I was playing at my friend's house, I fought the Filenze monster that gave me my level 50 stat, and he told me that during the fight that lasted two hours and forty minutes, I was gripping the controller so hard he was afraid I'd break it... I remember my hands did went sore the next two days, but I don't remember holding that controller. I think I phased out again earlier. Right after we defeated that monster and I encoded the data into Talan's Pocket PC, the very next thing I remember is Gene waking me up. I just can't make the link. Oh well, maybe I was just tired that night. |

"You know Jeremy, finally I can just show people how well trained I am in this game... its just that I spent most of my time bartering for items and doing manual level ups... you know in those areas, not so much as quests," Kain was explaining the whole way up to the 26th floor, "Thats why I lack swords, and electrical rods that are like... 30 feet long. No one would give me those for a silly eye of the storm, or android in a box," Kain sighed as he spoke, Jeremy nodded along. He finally came into the headquarters on 26th floor. He noticed Kyle sitting at her monitor.
"Well, you certainly like to play the game," Kain said, not realizing that he was the same way, too. How long did he sleep? Half an hour, and how long was he gone? Less then half an hour at his uncle's, and about 10 minutes on bus rides there and back. He would sacrifice more then 7/8 of his sleeping time for nothing.
She probobly heard him, but said nothing.
"Yeah, Kyle, I just have to congradulate you with the whole rings thing. That was pretty cool... Hope you can do something like that in the next battle. IF the need ever comes up," Kain said. "Good luck on finding info!"
Kain then positioned him at his computer, and logged on, entered the Filenze, and logged on. He took the role of Jinel-2, and currently he was somewhere in Ielian City. His background in the game was actually emulated by the game itself, and Jinel-3 was there. After months of playing the game and leveling up he had to come back to the city for reastocking, when he was attacked by Jinels! There were more then 3 now! Although none had the capabilities of using the powers as well as Jinel 2 and 3. Jinel 2 hid behind boxes in the port of that city.
"I've found him!"
"Out of the way!"
Voices were heard outside, so Jinel decided to clear out. He couldn't jump into the ocean as the other could electrify him, and he couldn't take them straight on, as they were all very strong against thunder defencivly. Although some had it replaced with fire, but it was no time to take chances...
"Man, Kain, can't you ever take care of yourself!" Some gunshots and explosions were heard, but Jinel didn't look over the boxes to see...
Agent Smith: Kain, man...
Jinel-2: Willy? How did you know I was around here?
Agent Smith: I didn't, but I had to restock. Everyone knows all Jinels are looking for Jinel 2. You're quite popular in this area, you know.
Jinel-2: Really?
Agent Smith: Dude, once I take care of them I say you get out of town. The game had all these things made, just for you.
Jinel-2: Technology these days.
Agent Smith: Its your burden, can't always take care of you. By the way, while I take care of the last few just run. Now!"
Jinel-2: Meh. I could've summoned an android, you know.
Disconnected
Jinel began to run away while his Sniper friend used his sharp aim to kill off a few. He wasn't an agent really, though it was just a name. From the Matrix. William Fish was quite a lover of the Matrix trilogy.
Jinel opened a window, and typed in...

Nigel hadn't come down to speak with them and the other younger players were filtering out. There was only a few that remained in the room. Don turned back to the computers, still they weren't working properly again. It would pobably be awhile. Still angry about needing help to destroy this skeleton, Don did all he could to refrain from bursting out. It was bugging him, however he kept his cool. Standing up he walked over to Dave, most the rest of them were kids. "Hey, how's it goin' I'm Don, Llewyn was my character. Anyhow if you are interested you can join me for a drink or something at the bar in the hotel down the street from here. Saw it on the way in." He realized it was early, however he wasn't tired, and a few drinks would help put him to sleep. Shaking the man's hand Don turned and exited the room, making his way to where his bags were he grabbed them and made for the exit. He didn't pay much attention to the large building, he knew where he was going and that's all he needed to know. He exited the building with his suitcase and made his way for the hotel. He saw some of the other players heading that way as well, he shrugged. Soon enough he was at the hotel, he approached the counter, "I'd like a room please, single." The man nodded, "one moment sir." After a short change of information Don got his keycard and went to his room, 104. It was right here on the first floor, that was nice.
Sliding the keycard in he opened the door and moved into the room, it wasn't anything flashy, but it would do. Throwing his suitcase on the bed, not bothering to unpack it. Don took his laptop case with him and headed to the bar. There was one person tending to the bar, it seems it was closing within the hour, according to the sign next to the door. He set his laptop on the table and walked up to the bar, "Jack and Coke." The barkeep was obviously growing tired and simply noded, pulling out a glass he whipped up the drink and handed it to Don. Taking a ten out of his wallet he threw on on the bar, the bartendar quickly got his change. Walking back over to the table in the corner he sat down against the wall and pulled the laptop out of his case. Opening it up he turned it on, it opened up to windows fairly quickly and Don went to open up cyberwatch. However as he logged onto windows he noticed he had a message awaiting him in his e-mail. Opening it up he began reading.
He thought about it for awhile, if this was on Filenze his character would most definitely need help with it. Half damage from physical attacks, he muttered as that was all his only means of doing any damage on filenze. Maybe his high powered blasters would come in hand on this one.

He thought about it for awhile, if this was on Filenze his character would most definitely need help with it. Half damage from physical attacks, he muttered as that was all his only means of doing any damage on filenze. Maybe his high powered blasters would come in hand on this one.
After entering the CyberWatch HQ Kain and still hungry, Jeremy walked over to the system he had claimed on his own with smirk on his face. Filenze was his favorite world and housed his favorite character, Vice. He was sure he would be able to help out more in this fight...that was until he remembered the E-mail he read at Kain's uncle's. Just to be sure, he would check the e-mail one more time.
He sighed and turned to his screen. "Maybe, in some way, shape, or form I'll be able to help the others in this fight." he said silently to himself.

Upon inputting the needed information, Jeremy selected Filenze and from his two characters in this world, one he just created, a low level 10 and the one he selected, Vice, a level 65 thief, well known amongst the other thieves in Filenze. Vice appeared in the hotel above a bar where he had last saved.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Vice made his way downstairs to the bar. He glanced around the bar for any familiar faces, but didn't find none. While he didn't see anyone he knew he was met with shouts from almost everyone in the small bar. The bar in which he was at was well known for being a hang out for some of the most notorious thieves in Filenze and of course a few newbs that wanted to make themselves known. Vice being one of the most notorious of them all, it was only natural for him to be met with opened arms amongst a crowd of people he didn't know. Vice laughed and walked over to a table of unknown thieves.
"Hey, has Sosannu been in here today?" Vice asked the players at the table.
"Can't say she has, Vice." one of the characters replied.
"Alright, I'll see if I can catch her on the chat system." Vice said walking away from the table and out of the bar.
<Sosannu>- Hey Vice, where ya been?
<Vice>-Been hanging out in the Medieval world.
<Sosannu>-Word is that you've been looking for me, that true?
<Vice>-Yea, it's true.
<Sosannu>-Well what ya need?
<Vice>-Been in any Level 20 areas lately? You know like an underground one?
<Sosannu>-What are you getting at, partner?
<Vice>-Sosannu, your area, have you been down there lately?
<Sosannu>-Why yes, I have been, but why?
<Vice>-Did you meet up with a monster down there? Like a mutant that seemed to be extremely powerful?
<Sosannu>-How powerful we talking, Vice? Are we talking the Lv. 50 and up monster that might seep in every now and then, or are we talking something stronger?
<Vice>-I'm talking around Lv. 85 powerful...Seen it lately?
<Sosannu>-Can't say I have...but I tell you what, I'll be sure to contact you if I find it.
<Vice>-Thanks, also, if you do happen to find it...run. After all I can't have my partner in crime going and getting hurt.
<Sosannu>-Yea, yea...I can take care of myself, Vice.
<Vice>-I know, I know I'm just looking out for you. Ok, I'm going to go now and search for more information on the monster. Be sure to contact me if you find it.
<Sosannu>-Will do.
With that, Vice signed off the chat system and began looking for information on the mutant that he and the others would be fighting against very soon.

Dave signed off of his computer after the fight with the great skeleton, and was just going to head off to look for some food when Don came up to him.
"Hey, how's it goin' I'm Don, Llewyn was my character. Anyhow if you are interested you can join me for a drink or something at the bar in the hotel down the street from here. Saw it on the way in." With that, Don turned and walked off. Dave yawned, and left the large building, slowly making his way down the street to the hotel. As he walked in the receptionist gave him a skeptical eye.
"Another CyberWatch person, eh?" was all that was said. Dave merely nodded, and got handed his key. He made his way to his room, (5th floor) and flopped onto his bed for a few minutes, intending to take a nap, depositing everything he had brought with him in a corner of the room. (Laptop, a really comfy pillow, and some books.) Sleep not arriving, he decided that he may as well join Don for that drink he had offered earlier. Dave yawned, stretched, and hopped out of the bed, walking to the elevator and punching the first floor button. When the doors slid open he walked out, and, after a quick question aimed at the receptionist, got his bearings. He made his way to the bar, which he noticed was empty, save for the bartender and a solitary figure in the corner booth, against the wall with a laptop. Don. Dave casually made his way over to the bar, and got a glass of water, then made his way over to the corner. He tapped Don on the shoulder, who hadn't seen him coming, and sat down. Don eyed the glass of water skeptically.
"I don't drink, bad for your health." Dave answered the unspoken question and took a sip from his glass. "So, what's up? This whole situation is kind of unreal... Getting flown out here purely for the purpose of playing a game, and they pay for everything. Kind of nice, if you ask me."
"Yeah, well, I'm just kind of going with it. Can't really do anything else. Hey, take a look at this..." Don passed his laptop over to Dave, who looked at the screen and read the email displayed there.
Dave shook his head, and handed the laptop back.
"Joy... And me, with yet another soley physical character."
"Who do you play?" Don asked him with a raised eyebrow.
"Spectre," Dave chuckled. The man next to him also gave a low laugh, and leaned back in his seat.
"It'll certainly be interesting to see how everyone else reacts to this bit of news. You may want to tell them who you use before you randomly appear, though." Dave nodded, and the two of them passed idle banter back and forth for the next hour or so. Following that, Dave went back to his room, and this time, thankfully, fell asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow.
Come morning, Dave groggily opened his eyes and looked around, forgetting where he was for a moment. When he remembered, (after some startled thoughts wondering why he was in a strange hotel) he chuckled to himself and hopped up, jogging down the hall to the elevator, and out of the front doors of the hotel, making it back to the CyberWatch building at a fair pace. He headed to the 26th floor, and plopped down at his computer without bothering to check who else was in the room. He chuckled to himself yet again as he logged onto Filenze.

Only one character appeared at the selection screen. Glistening black, standing almost 7'6''... Spectre was truly a sight to behold. Grinning, as he always did, Dave double-clicked the alien and immersed himself in the game.
Where am I....? Was the first thought through Dave's head as Spectre appeared, inside of a ventilation shaft. Stale air... Is that a cyborg I hear in the distance? Wait... The level 20 sectors! With a few deft keystrokes, Spectre ran forward and tumbled through a hole in the shaft, changing directions suddenly, now clinging to the left wall of the outside of the vent. He was in a gigantic space station, orbiting Filenze. Not many sounds could be heard in either direction, although there was one set of footsteps that seemed to be getting quite close.... Ah, what was this? Female figure... Long hair... Cape... Don't recognize her. Incredibly good at moving silently, though. Staying concealed as well, sticking in the shadows... Spectre crept along the side of the vent, and onto the ceiling it was mounted on, moving as silently as possible, claws making small ticking noises on the metal. Good thing I'm still far enough away to not be heard. Spectre lay in wait on the ceiling as the figure below crept closer and closer, still staying concealed and moving silently. When she was directly below, Dave grinned to himself, and simply released Spectre's hold on the metal ceiling. The Kriss fell through the air, as silent as a mouse, yet as dangerous as a bolt of fresh plasma.

HWA-PAKK-NGK-TCHNGKK!!
And that was the debilitating sound of something really really big, not to mention really really ugly, slap-hitting the grated metal floor where Talan used to be.
Even as she turned to face her unseen enemy, she was certain that it had only been the triple bonuses she had on her evade stat that had enabled her to escape that attack. When she saw him, she gaped. Standing seven-foot-six, long-limbered and sharped-clawed, he was the biggest, meanest, nastiest, creepiest, bad-assed monster she had encountered to date.
Of course, her first instinct was to run. And to run like hell.
Past two doors and five empty corridors, she ran like there was no tomorrow. She dared to glance backwards and immediately regretted it as her eyes involuntarily widened in horror. The mutant was bouncing off the walls, back and forth, so fast that she could barely see him. And his cruel eyes were laughing, mocking her, certain as she was that she was facing a very quick and painful annihilation.
He's still coming after me! Ugh, I am sooo dead...
She ran, not daring to look back again as she fumbled for her gun. At last she managed to pull it out of its holster.
And then he was in front of her. She had no time to react, and before she knew it she was lying flat on her back, helpless. She struggled to no avail. The mutant roared, exposing a thousand splinter-like teeth as its huge mouth opened to seemingly bite the girl's head off whole.
He had the girl pinned down by the shoulders and upper arms. But that left her lower arms free, and with the right one was able to point her gun at the hideous alien head. She pulled the trigger.
If the Cyberwatch worlds had been real, the force of the recoil would have broken her arm in half, if not totally rip it out of its socket. One of Talan's special bullets hit the mutant smack-dab on its exoskeleton forehead and triggered upon impact. Isoplas tendrils came out, expanding and slithering all over the mutant's body to hold him fast as he slid, immobile, halfway across the hall.
Talan rose gingerly, sword in one hand and gun held at the ready in the other. Slowly, carefully, she walked towards the bound form. To her everlasting surprise, before her mind could even register the fact that it had been all too easy to trap him, the mutant talked. He talked to her in a very human and very non-NPC-ish manner, "Whoa, Kyle, it's me, Dave!!"
Dave never saw it coming. His startled shout was heard all througout the questors' room, and then some. "Oww! What did you do that for??" He turned to glare at the dark-haired girl who had just whacked him on the head with a handkerchief (she didn't want to serioulsy injure him, just make him feel momentary pain).
"Don't. You. Ever. Scare Me Like That AGAIN!!" Kyle scathingly told him through clenched teeth, and her hands were balled at her sides. "You almost gave me a heart attack!!" Her face was very red from embarrassment. It turned even redder when Dave let out a hearty guffaw.
"Ah, where's your sense of humor?" he said between chuckles. Kyle poked her tongue out at him. Before he could comment further, she turned tail and plopped back into her seat across the room.
Oops, maybe I should apologize... Dave shrugged and likewise turned back to his PC.
Talan sighed frustratedly as she worked Spectre out of the net. She was still embarrassed at his joke--at how easily he had caught her unawares and sent her panicking--but she did her best not to let it show.
"Well, we're quits, then." Spectre said as he straighted up to his full height. He was using his Kriss voice now (or whatever passes for voice with Kriss).
Talan agreed, "I guess we are. So, what have you got?"
Spectre shrugged. Yes, it was definitely a shrug, given the Kriss's unusual anatomy. At least, that was what Talan thought, but she couldn't be really sure. She raised one eyebrow quizzically.
"Anyway," she began, "I've already scouted the lower levels and they're all empty. I set traps, so we'll know his location if he triggers any of them. There's no need to hang around here anymore, I think. Wanna check upstairs?" Suddenly she snapped her fingers. "Hey, how about you check the upper floors, while I search for the main control room? I could probably get some info there."
The Kriss agreed, and without further ado, they went to their respective tasks.
Much later, he found her fiddling with her Pocket PC that was plugged into the station's main computer. As he approached her, Talan shook her head without looking up.
"I've got a big fat nothing. You?"
"Nothing either."
He peered over what she was doing. On her palmtop, he could see that she was typing in a strange language that he had no way to even begin to understand, so he turned his attention instead to the terminal screen. With a long clawed finger, he pushed a button to bring up the holographic equivalent of what was being displayed.
In bright blue-green scanlines, out popped a very detailed map of the compound. The scan lines indicated the space station's architecture. Darker blue lines indicated pipes that only specialized players (such as himself) could access, serving them as passageways. Yellow, purple and green icons indicated doors, airlocks and teleportation pods, respectively, while red blips showed where the monster spawning points are.
Talan caught Spectre's attention by clearing her throat. "Say, Spec, you got anything in your inventory that's got really really really huge explosive power? Something that packs at least half the firepower needed to blow this space station to itsy-bitsy slithereens?" Spectre replied in the negative, which she had been half-expecting even as she asked the question. "No, nevermind..." Talan trailed off. "I fuse that and we'd probably obliterate ourselves in the process."
"Fuse?"
"Nevermind," Talan shook her head dismissively. "This will have to do." She bent down and fumbled for something under the terminal desk. "You wouldn't happen to have some glue on in your pockets, would you? No?" she mumbled as she sifted through the junk that was lying around. Finding nothing useful, she checked her inventory, but still came up empty-handed. "Agh," she turned to her companion frustratedly, "Can I borrow your exoskeleton?"
Before he could blink or say yes, she put one hand on his arm and pointed her Pocket PC at him. Nothing seemed to happen. After a while, she nonchallantly went back to her typing.
There was no indication of anything, but Spectre's gut (aka intution from playing the game for over ten years now) told him that she had just used a special ability.
"What did you just do?"
She shook her head, not wishing to tell him more than she felt he needed to know. "I tapped into the main computer and linked it to my PC. This facility is old and in disuse, so the passcodes were really easy to break... anyway, there a lot of built-in sensors, so if there's any significant movement anywhere, we'd know about it. Remember that as big as this place is, no one really visits here to quest or level-up anymore; even the monster spawning points are already dysfunctional. Which means that any movement here would indicate a lost player, or the mutant that we're after.
"Also," she paused for emphasis, "so that no one messes up my plans for the mutant, I set the all doors, airlocks, and teleportation devices in this station to be sealed as soon as that timer hits zero," she indicated the blinking console. They had two minutes.
"Now, let's get out of here."
Back in the real world, Kyle never took her eyes off the monitor, but she had a grim set about her jaw. She wasn't called the Fate Weaver for nothing. She had just pulled off a hack that many overriders had attempted, but none had yet succeded in. Nigel would surely notice that.
Just let him notice it. Let him notice. I'd be truly disappointed if he didn't.
[ OoC: I just realized... Am I already being close to god-modding?? I think I might be, but I don't actually know what my limitations are and so far I've done nothing that wasn't specified in my profile. Besides, my character 'cheats' a lot--I made her that way. But that's no excuse, is it? Yikes. Will edit post if someone raises hell.]

OOC: Bah, I haven't posted for ages. Here goes nothing!
Gene stretched himself as he woke up from his sleep. For a moment, everything seemed blur to him and he realised he was still in the Cyberwatch Headquarters. He was late for the briefing yesterday, thus Gene was not able to check into any hotel in time and came straight away to the headquarters. "Bah, everyone's logging in already," Gene muttered to himself as he noticed Jeremy and Kain entering the room, followed by Dave and Kyle a while later. "I better get started as well." Gene silently decided and unzipped his backpack underneath his table, searching for his toothbrush and toothpaste. As he got up, he noticed a new email waiting to be read, but Gene subconciously ignored it and stood up.
Still barely awake, Gene made his way to the restroom and brushed his teeth. All of a sudden, Gene's eyes widened and he dashed out of the restroom, with the toothbrush still in his mouth. Hurriedly, he dashed over to his PC and opened the email.
'Filenze?!" Gene said unclearly, with a bit of the foam landing onto the tabletop. "Darn." Gene cursed himself and hurriedly ran back to the restroom to finish brushing his teeth. A quick wash and he was up and ready for his next mission online. Gene sat down on his chair and began logging into the server.

Gene clicked on the Filenze server and there, Reima appeared in the futuristic world of Filenze. "Level 20 sectors?" Reima remarked to himself, wondering how was he able to log into this place where the last place he logged out from was the other side of the world.
"Oww! What did you do that for??" Dave shouted from his seat, which startled Gene for a moment. Gene stood up, only to see Kyle with a hankerchief and face reddened. It was a funny scene to watch and Gene sat down in his seat, wondering what had just happened. Kyle returned to her seat and continued playing.
Gene looked around. There were only a few of them there, for it was still early. Perhaps the rest would arrive later. Seems that everyone was intrigued by his or her characters, Gene decided to venture out a little on his own.
Reima looked around the surroundings. "Ruins," Reima said to himself and at the same time surveying the architecture of the ancient city. "what magnificent architecture." A shadow caught Reima's attention as he turned around. Drawing his shamsheer, Reima held it threateningly to face off the suspicious character but found nothing. "Strange..." Reima held down his weapon.
Gene scratched his head, puzzled. "Bah, maybe I'm just too tired." Gene continued using Reima and moved around the area. It was a giantic labyrinth, with the structure of most buildings still intact. Water continued flowing from the fountain and flowed its way through the city in the form of several streams right down the middle of the paths. Reima continued his stroll, his shamsheer still in hand just in case of a real attack. Unknowingly, a shadow lurked a distance from him, undetected by Reima.

"Heh, get out of town. What the hell is he thinking?" Jinel thought. "I have a job to do," he entered an old abandoned subway tunnel, the only level 20 area he knew. He entered the dark tunnel, the lights did not work, well, some flickered, some were turned off. He descended down onto the rail way and went to his right. The tunnel grew darker, and more and more silent. An occasional rat could be heard running on the metal... wet metal, this part of the subway was apperently underwater. The walls leaked, drop by drop. Oh how would he hate being here if he fought the mutant. Suddnely, he came upon a stopped train, and a level 20 broken down cyborg was around it.
"Electricity Harness!" Jinel-2 yelled out, hearing his many echos venture through the tunnel. The metal rod had began to glow, and Jinel approached the cyborg, tapping it on the side. Being a level 24 beast it fell easily.
The doors of the train opened. "Who's there? Level, Clan, Class!" a voice yelled.
"Woah, where did you come from?" Jinel questioned.
"None of your buisness. Tell me, or I'll force you to leave," he spoke.
Jinel let out a sigh.. "66, No cla..." He never finished the sentence.
"Level 66?! What the hell are YOU doing here?"
"Hey, listen, I am a questor..."
Jinel came closer so he could see who he was talking to. The face seemed familiar, but Kain couldn't put his finger on it. He knew the player, that he could tell...
"...A Jin again. Guys its alright its a Jin, you can come out!" the man yelled.
"A Jin? You've been associating with them?" Jinel-2 asked. "No difference, guys, you've seen a level 85-90 beast 'round here?"
"My God, I just told my friend that. NO," the man said. "But if you really want to me to assist you I will. The name's Sossanu."
"A thief? Hey! I know who you are! You stole my better rod after I won it from a quest here!" Jinel exclaimed.
"Hey, I have my own ways of making money in this game..."
"Whatever, just freaking help me, apperently you don't hide out in this train, so you must've come here for something."
"Yeah. I did come to double check for the beast. Common Purpouse. Lets go," Sossanu said. "Guys, stay put!"
Jinel and Sossanu wondered through the area in search of the beast finding nothing, they ended their search at the exit from the tunnel, and Sossanu wished to split.
"Hmmm, before we do that, lets see... are there any secret areas around here?"
"Not that I know of... check yourself, I am going outta here..."
So Jinel 2 was left by himself in the tunnel, where he searched the walls, and each of the stations for something secret, and most of the time unseccesfully. The lack of lighting made it hard, but suddnely he had an idea. He would provide electrical power to the subway, enough for just about 10 minutes and search out the place during that time...

After leaving his sister home Phoenix sat on his bike and drowe at high speed to the CW HQ, as he got there he parked the bike in the basement parking lot of CW. He took with him a bag with his personal laptop and some devices, like cables, and some headphone set with microphone to contact some people while he was playing.
He took the elevator to the 36'th floor (I think it was 36) when he got out he saw that some of the people were already in the game, so he looked after an free Pc and found one close to Gene he got to know a bit the day they started the quest...
The day Cal El died, long since before, normaly he handled enemies easily so he began to wonder a bit why CW placed so good monsters in neewbie areas, he thought about it almost whole night."
He walked to the free Pc and on his way he claped gene on the shoulder saying "You look tired today, hehe"
Gene smililing replied "Then you should look in the mirror" and laughed a nit
Phoenix sat down and turned on the computer, while it was going on he took out his laptop and cables, connecting it to the CW computer and logging into CyberWatch...

Don shrugged as Dave mentioned that he didn't drink, and then he took a sip of his whiskey and coke. Setting it back down he showed Dave the e-mail, then they conversed a little and he found out that Dave was the player of the very character Darious had been hunting for quite some time. Don spoke nothing of this to Dave, simply mentioned that his character was a bounty hunter. Of course Dave's character was hunted by many bounty hunters, and many times had the other bounty hunters failed.
Don finished his whiskey and finished checking his e-mail after Dave took off, and the bar was closing. Packing up his laptop he left a few bucks on the table and headed to his room. Right down the hall on the first floor, very convenient. He hadn't drank enough to get drunk, or even a buzz, just enough to help him sleep. He shut the door and locked it, then layed down, quickly falling asleep.
It was a dreamless sleep, well not exactly, but it seemed like it. Waking up Don took a shower, and got dressed in some jeans, a t-shirt and a hoodie. For being 30 years old he didn't look it, and didn't dress like it. Not bothering with his hair he put on his hat and walked out of the room, the door locking behind it. He then made his way to the cyberwatch headquarters.
Most of the others had already filed into the room. Going over to the pc he used the previous day, Don logged onto his account

Darious spawned in the bounty hunter guild, there he immediately began searching for information on the whereabouts of this monster. There were bounties up for it, and 3 locations given. He took the time to study them a bit, before he would head out. He also checked on the bounty of that Kryss of Dave's. He sat going over the maps of the three areas the monster was rumoured to be. He was wondering which one he might goto first. Maybe it would be best to contact falcon. Opening up his communicator he punched in the number that would give him Falcon. "Hey, it's Darious. Meet me at the headquarters." With that he decided to wait and go over the maps some more.

Waking up is something Xielian alternatively loathes and loves. For example now, she is having some of the most fitful sleep she have had in the past few months despite an occasional hard object pushing against her skin, but her body clock that is set to go off after six hours of sleep demands that she join the waking world. Mumbling some incoherent curses in the few languages she know, she reluctantly opened her eyes.
A foreign looking ceiling greeted her and she blinked, her still disorientated mind unable to process the unfamiliar scene until a few seconds later. Sitting up, she turned her eyes to the curtained window to look at the filtered sunlight, then return her eyes to the look around the room and most of all, at the bed. More specifically, at the items all over the bed and at her shoes.
Sighing, she pushed herself off the bed and began picking up her scattered belongings and put them into her opened backpack. Taking off her shoes and socks, she proceeded to make good use of the hotel bathtub and came out twenty minutes later feeling refreshed and vigorated.
Drying her hair with a towel with one hand, she pulled out her laptop and handphone to check for messages. No message in handphone inbox. Two messages in her email inbox, of which one drew a smile from her as it is a mail from her sister, asking her to take care. The other however, made the smile turned into a serious grim line.
So the second mission is out, Xielian mused quietly as she packed her laptop into her bag and went out of her room. Detouring to a cafe nearby for some food before she went to the Cyberwatch headquarters, to the room where they were allocated for the quest.
As she expected, the others are already in the room, and a quick glance identified several places in Filenze world that is shown on the monitor, as well as the obvious tiredness and lack of sleep in some of the questors' faces. Mentally thanking the jet lag for making her tired enough to sleep well, she went to the computer she used last night and was getting surprisingly fond of, she set her things down and logged on.

Deimos appeared where he was last left, perched at the top of a department store invested by Bona clan with one long leg dangling down the side of the building and another drew up to his chest. To be more specific, the apartment store that hid the Bona headquarter in its basements. Pulling his legs back, he stood up and picked up Terror in one fluid motion and strolled towards the staircase. Much as he wanted to stay at his favorite resting place and enjoy the warm sunshine, he has work to do.
Taking a lift down to the Bona HQ, he cleared the identification check and stepped into lounge, where Bona members love to gather and chat about everything anything under the sun. He pulled a lazy grin when he spotted the one person he is looking for. "Yo Krazygal."
Krazygal turned around and broke into a smile when she saw Deimos. "Heya Dei-chan."
Rolling his eyes, Deimos shot her a half-exasperated glare, "Quit it with that nick, k? It's gonna spoil my reputation."
"Anything you want, Dei-snugglebunny." Krazygal replied with a wink before she started giggling at the slight red hue on Deimos's pale cheeks. "Aww... you are so cute."
Before anymore shades of red try to gain a place on his face, the Bona assassin sighed and held his hands up in the surrender gesture, "Ok I surrender. You can call me Dei-chan, fine now?"
"Of course." The female Bona member gave him a satisfied nod. "Say, what's up? Need information? Or my excellent spying skills?"
"I need maps of the level 20 areas. Quest purposes." Deimos requested. Krazygal is the number one Bona spy and she excels in getting and keeping information using all kinds of different methods, and she's the person to go to for any information need. Deimos helped her frequently, threatening information out from Torlanova members as it is not convenient for her to do so. As such, they became pretty good friends and Krazygal is became the only one who can get under Deimos's skin without getting into any trouble.
"Ooh, the big major quest huh?" The Bona spy took out a palm-sized electronic device and tapped a few buttons. "Okay, I have sent the maps into your palmtop. Good luck hunting whatever you're hunting!"
"Thanks Krazy. I owe you one." Smiling in the way that would send normal girls drooling, Deimos went out of the room towards the teleportation room while viewing the highly detailed and labelled maps of the three 20 level sectors. He remembered the where the areas are but it was a long time ago before he went to any of them and he wasn't confident that he won't get lost. Deimos doesn't do things that he is not confident of, that's why he got the maps from Krazygal.
Upon reaching the room where the warp portals are located in, Deimos took one last look at the maps and decided to search the underground subway tunnel. The space station is too maze-like and getting dust from the ruins all over his trenchcoat is not the assassin's idea of fun. Besides, the tunnel is small enough an area that he will most likely run into any of the questors there. Entering the coordinates of the tunnel into the portal, he stepped into the glowing equipment and disappeared from the room.
Appearing right at the entrance to the tunnel, Deimos tapped Terror's handle on his shoulder carelessly as he surveyed the environment, turning his eyes towards the dark entrance with a smirk that positively amplified his aura of terror. Sauntering down the steps into the railway, he was letting his eyes adjust to the darkness when a figure walked out the railway towards a circuit box by the side.
Silently Deimos moved into his usual stance, one that will help him react quickly should the figure be a monster, his right hand holding Terror with the curved blade in front pointing upwards and close to the ground, and his left ready to let any spells he cast fly straight at the target. But as the figure began tampering with the circuit box and the lights in railway abruptly flashed into brightness, Deimos relaxed from his stance before squeezing his eyes shut to avoid getting hurt by the sudden light.
His lips twitched into a grin as he slowly revealed his ice-blue orbs to the world. His calculations came true, he found another questor, since nobody would bother to switch on the lights unless they are looking for something. Something like a water mutant that he is also looking for.
[OOC: Denim, seems like Deimos found Jinel 2 ^^; so the ball's over to you now. O.O 7000+ characters... my longest post yet XD]

[OOC: Denim, seems like Deimos found Jinel 2 ^^; so the ball's over to you now. O.O 7000+ characters... my longest post yet XD]
"All's better now," Jinel said happily, and turned about. He noticed a man, with a curved blade.
"Quester?" he asked.
"Who else would come here?" the reply from the man.
"Alright then. Kain, Jinel-2 in Filenze, you are?"
"Xielian, and here I am Deimos."
"Heh, no time to waste. We have to find the beast," Jinel spoke, and in an instant spun around and went on a vigilant search of something that would lead them to the water beast. First he jumped up on the waiting platform, and had a look around. Nothing but an out of order vending machine. He proceeded down into the tunnel, with Deimos follow him. Half way though the tunnel to the second platform he noticed a passage in the wall.
"Doesn't this look curious?"
They walked into the tight passage, it was dripping with water, how very uncomfortable. After the passage ended, it lead to another tunnel.
"Hmm... Can't say the passage is on the map. But this second rail way is," Deimos said.
"Good, we're not out of the level 20 areas, yet. But... since I hadn't checked it yet, shall we split up? We are in a middle of a tunnel," the clone sugested.
"It seems like a good idea. Meet you here, or IM you, k?" Deimos answered.
"Alright," Jinel replied, and took of to the right. The tunnel seemed repetetive from there, but he pressed on. The water continued to drip, the rats continued to run, but the light made it all better. Until they went out. He felt something was wrong. He looked around, but unable to see 5 feet infront of him, he gave up. He lost all direction, too. Something behind him moved however. He spun around.
"Anyone there?" Jinel asked.
Mechanized noises were heard. Jinel realized, it was a level 29 Cyborg.
"Thunder Storm!" he yelled out, and suddnely bolts of plasma began electrigying the robotic beast for the next 2 minutes. The Robot fell down on fire, which let Jinel figure out the way he had come from. With that noted, he went the opposite way, but sadly due to the lack of lighting he couldn't see much. His best bet was to get to the next platform and fix the problem. Most of the way everything went smoothly, exept for the ocasional cyborg or giant rat. However, along his way he felt that someone had been watching him, and observing him...Soon he reached a platform, and proceeded to fix the lighting again.
"Quester?" he asked.

Dante rubbed his eyes and stared at his screen once again, The IM icon appeared on his screen, One from Nigel, he opened this one first,
Hmmph Dante sneered this sounded pretty bad, considering he hadnt noticed much teamwork, but what the hell maybe this will change with this fight.
Dante read the second message
Dante sighed the HQ, He pulled the keyboard closer and logged in.
Falcon appeared in the HQ's Save point, Wondering where his partner was, Falcon just searched around, Walking up a flight of stairs he ran into several Hunters he knew, they waved, and Falcon gave a nod, and continued walking, Seeing the Tech Room up ahead Falcon broke into a jog, He didn't see the Techs Chief in the room so he took a quick look around to see if his Stun Net had been repaired, He checked the drawer marked AERUN, and opening it smiled to see his net, Now capable of delivering a 10,000,000 volt charge, This'd give that stinking mutant one hell of a charge, Falcon took his net and started towards the map room, Thats where he was his Partner,
"Darious"
Dariious tunred and nodded at Falcon, Falcon walked over to the maps,
"I suppose its Spectre or the Mutant, Or maybe both?" Falcon asked.
He waited for his reply.

Vice, after searching the town he was in for answers, decided to head towards the subways. He made his way down the steps, past many trains cars that had been left to rust, to a secret area only he and a select group of other thieves knew about, mainly Sosannu's thieves. Vice entered the secret area to find six or seven thieves talking amongst themselves.
"Hey guys, Sosannu here?" Vice asked watching as the talking ceased and all eyes in the room turned to him.
"Hey Vice," one of the older thieves said, "No, she's not here. She left with some Jin...said he was a questor."
"A Jin, huh? Any idea which way they went?" Vice questioned the thief.
"Uhh...I believe they went down further into the tunnels."
"No...you don't say..." Vice said sarcastically. "I'll find them myself..."
With that he left the secret area and started to make his way down further into the tunnels when he came upon a split in the paths. He looked down one of the tunnels, to see that it was pitch black. He turned to the other tunnel to see it lit up.
"Well the lights are on...Let's see if anyone's home."
He proceeded down the lighted tunnel until he came upon two people talking. He hid in a niche in the wall and waited until the two moved on, separating. Vice decided to follow one...a Jin from the looks of it. Though he knew this was more than likely one of the questors, he couldn't help but to follow him silently. To him, a steal was a steal, be they ally or not. He did, after all, have to keep his skills up to snuff. He continued to follow the Jin down the tunnels, careful to stay at a distance so that he wouldn't be noticed. He looked up as the lights started to flicker above him, then they just win out.
"Even better..." Vice thought with a grin on his face. "This will allow me to sneak ahead of him while he stumbles in the dark to find the next platform."
He watched as the Jin destroyed a cyborg in the distance, illuminating the tunnel enough for the Jin to see where he was, but not to notice Vice. Vice smirked as he saw a secret route in the wall that lead to the nearest platform. Vice knew this way was faster to the platform than the route in which the Jin was currently taking. Vice beat the other questor to the platform by about a minute and a half due to the secret tunnel he took. Vice smiled to himself at the thought that he knew every inch of these subways crossed his mind. There wasn't a secret tunnel he didn't know about, at least as far as he knew. In his early days of playing in Filenze, before he had become famous amongst other thieves, Vice had made a little bit of a reputation by hiding in these tunnels and stealing from what few that would pass by. He snapped out of his flashback when he heard the Jin approaching the platform.
"It's about time..." he said quietly
He approached the player from behind and sat behind him as he waited for the lights to be restored to the tunnel, that's when he would make himself known.
"Hey guys, Sosannu here?" Vice asked watching as the talking ceased and all eyes in the room turned to him.

"Let's see what the other message is, 'From Cal' it says" he looked strange at the screen.Wondering what Jericho wanted he opened the e-mail.
"Heh, why not?" he thought as he selected his character and began playing.
He looked around the area and figured that he was at the entrance to the ruins, big, god-forsaken city...people-forsaken too in that case, only treasure hunters would mostly come here...
He entered through the gate and looked around, it was a BIG city, sky scrappers so hight that the sky wasn't almost visible anymore, then he saw the biggest of them all in the middle, it was about twice as high as the normal one, Fierce looked at the building and began walking towards it.
But before it he done a search on the area and found around 6 players inside, he couldn't be sure because something was interupting the search uite a bit, for securty reason he was running through back alleys when he saw a character, pretty good armed, so he wondered if it was just a hunter of somekind or a questor.
Following him for a time he was inspecting him, looking for any clues of who he might be, Fierce was very agile so it was easy to keep up with him.
In one of the back alleys it was a dead end so he needed to cross the big way the suspicouse character was walking sohe ran as fast as possible, and as silent as possible.He was pretty sure that he was detected or that the person at least thought someone was behind him since he drawed his sword, but as he turned back Fierce had already runned past to the other site.
Fierce was beggining to be kinda bored, so he ran past him throught the back alleys and waited for him inside a building some yards in front of him, luring for him, watching through a shattered window, he could do this for hours, even days (in-game time)
Then the moment came, he was walking slowly past Fierce, with his hand on the sword, now Fierce knew that the person he followed was pretty sure that he was followed, so he slowly and silently got out through the crushed window and sneaked on the 'prey'...

Reima looked behind, and sure enough he had a stalker. The character lunged at him with a gunblade in hand and slahed at Reima. In a smooth action, Reima dodged the attack, only to see the smooth reflexes of the assailant placing his unarmed hand on the floor and pushing him towards Reima's direction. Reima held up his shamsheer and parried the blow.
"Greetings, Reima." The assailant said as they remained in that position. Reima smirked and pushed the assailant back. Almost immediately, the assailant launched another attack. This opponent was swift, and definitely not one to be trifled with. Reima launched a Triple Break against him, slashing in a triangular fashion from above, left and right. The assailant dodged all the blows, as anticipated by Reima. Triple Break was a powerful move, but the execution is slow, allowing fast and agile opponents to dodge at least one of the blows.
The assailant executed a skill move upon Reima, charging at him with his blade in hand. In an instant, the assailant appeared behind Reima, catching him by surprise. "Damn it!" Reima cursed as he ducked the blade and somersaulted out of harm's way.
"Who are you?" Reima asked in an authoritative voice. "Have you got a bounty on my head or an item I possess?"
"No, I just came to say hi, Lord Vanz" The assailant said as he straightened himself up and smiled. "It's me, Phoenix."
Gene laughed and stood from his seat, only to see Phoenix waving at him, smiling. Gene smiled back and sat down. "Damn it, I was almost certain someone was following me here." Reima said, laughing. "You darn stalker!"
Fierce chuckled. "Hey, no harm was done, isn't it?" Fierce observed Reima for a while. "Say, you're a bounty hunter too?" Reima nodded his head. "Ah, I see."
"Yeah, and I see that you're a bounty hunter as well. A very agile one too. Your dexterity has got to be darn high, I'd say." Reima stroke his chin. Fierce nodded his head in return, and winked. "So, what are you doing here?"
"Well, I need to get something here. Wanna come along? We can check out the place as well."
"That would be good, since I've got nothing to do anyway." Reima shrugged his shoulders. "I can take some time to admire the architecture as well. This place is uber cool!" Reima grinned.

Glancing at his palm-top occasionally, Deimos strolled down the railway with a lazy but vigilant grace. His assassin eyes had gotten used to the darkness and are now sliding slowly left and right to take in the small details that could cause much difference in what may happen.
Running a hand through his bangs, he stopped all action suddenly when he heard a soft buzzing in a distance, straight ahead of where he stood. Silently bringing Terror up, he moved stealthily forward, and followed the sound to its source cautiously.
When he finally got closed enough to see what had his senses tingling with alert, he frowned and poked carefully at the broken-looking cyborg slumped against the wall of the tunnel. One poke, no reaction. Two pokes... BANG!!
Wincing at the loud and sudden small-scale explosion, Deimos jumped back a little and looked at the now burning cyborg which twitched into movement. Raise an eyebrow, he quickly concluded that this cyborg was abandoned and dumped into this tunnel, but somehow is still able to function. Twitching his lips into a sadistic smirk, he decided to relieve the cyborg from its misery.
With a swift movement, a black dagger, Dread, dropped into his left hand where it started glowing from a whispered spell of Deimos. When the time was right, he flicked the dagger towards the cyborg's core and activated the draining spell he cast. Sure enough, the activity of the cyborg died down and a steady stream of energy went through the Dread and pulsed towards Deimos. He could do with some extra energy, especially when there is the possibility of meeting a high-level monster in the area.
Retrieving Dread from the completely dead cyborg, Deimos continued down the tunnel that began to start going downwards. He noticed that the pipelines by the side are so old that they are dripping constantly and realised that if there are no exit for the water further down the tunnel, there will most likely be a huge puddle or a small pool of it. And that may make things either worse or more interesting, depending on the situation.
As he expected, Deimos came upon a pool of water that he estimated to be higher than knee-depth. And much to his displeasure, the pool blocked the way very well as he had no wish to get wet, especially not while the quest monster is of the water element. Giving the liquid on the floor an irritated glare, Deimos turned and went back to where he and Jinel splitted up. The discovery that there is such a huge amount of water in the tunnel is enough, for now.

Hunger... Must feed...
Those were his thoughts, if the entity could think.
Enemy.
He had been following the two men for some time now.
Enemy.
He touched the walls, and the walls became damp.
Must kill.
He extended his arms... if arms they could be called. He became one with the wall, and he traveled.
Must kill.
They were moving. The men were moving.
Enemy.
They couldn't see him. But he could see them clearly, oh yes, very clearly.
It was time to make his presence known.
They were trying to fight back. Or were they? He had felt something cut across his body, but that was it.
Something shone. Something came into contact with him, and he felt a surprising jolt.
Cold.
Cold was bad. But not bad enough.
Bad men.
But the men were human.
Cold men.
He picked out the one with the shiny thing, the one with the cold thing. He didn't like cold things. He decided that the two men had to die.
Humans are weak.
He hit the man with the shiny thing.
Humans can't live in water.
He turned his attention to the other man. There was water in the air, and he could control it. He grabbed the moisture, and made it materialize. He aimed it toward's the other man's head... to the face... the mouth and nose...
Aaahhh.....
It hurt. Something hurt. What was it?
Shiny thing...
He didn't hit the other man hard enough, and the man had hit him with the shiny thing.
Bad thing.
He sent out another tendril of water, grabbing the arm of the man with the shiny thing, the man who had hit him.
You can't live in water.
The tendril swirled... he made it cover the man's head... the face... towards the man's lungs.......
You can't live in water.

"Damn it! #$%^$%^$&"
Startled, Xielian looked up from the screen when she heard a loud exclamation and turned to the source of the string of sulfurous swearing. One asian young man whose medieval character acquired Lordship.
"What happened?" She heard someone asked the agitated Gene.
"That water mutant appeared in the ruins and killed us!"
Xielian's eyes widened in surprise. The water mutant has appeared! But before she could know more about what happened from the conversation, a sudden movement in her computer screen distracted her...
~~~
Deimos ducked swiftly and brought his scythe up quickly, skewering the pouncing giant rat in its torso. The huge rodent screeched in pain and attempted to claw the black curved blade out from his body. But its struggle is futile, as Deimos, with a wide evil smirk, drained away the giant rat's life force.
"Waste of my energy." Casually swinging the scythe sidewards to clear the blood on it, Deimos commented boredly. He bent and picked up the item on the floor which stood in place of the dead and disintegrated rodent. A simple low level defense ring.
Flicking it back onto the ground, as he has no use of it, Deimos stepped into the passage Jinel took. Immediately, the hair on the back of his neck tingled and his danger sense quickly alerted him of disturbance. Narrowing his eyes, Deimos sent some energy into Erebos's Mist to heighten his stealth abilities and he moved with his assassin grace to where sounds of a fight has began to reach his ears.
Tensed and alert as he was, Deimos's mind was surprisingly clear and had roamed over the various possibilities of what could be happening further down the passage. The worst, would probably be that the water mutant had started deciding to kill off all the questors, which made Deimos ponder about the mutant's intelligence and speed of travelling. It just sent two of the questors out of commission in the ruins, could it be possible that the mutant came into the subway tunnel so quickly?
His train of thoughts came to a slow stop as he neared the conflict that is taking place. Cautiously, Deimos moved even nearer to have a look first before he contemplate joining into the fight. Deimos does not do things he is not confident of, after all.
Reima spunned around to see a monster he had never ever seen before. The monster materialized from liquid into a solid entity! Reima gasped for a second and drew his shamsheer is an offensive position. Fierce unsheathed his weapon as well and they engaged the mutant head on.
"Damn it!" Reima exclaimed. "This is gonna be hard for the both of us!" Reima dodged to the side as the mutant struck downwards with its enormous claws. "Take that!" Reima struck hard against the mutant and seemingly had little effect against the monster. "OMFG! Damage is halved as mentioned!"
Fierce ducked swiftly from the monster onslaught attacks, avoiding each blow and occasionally parrying the enemy's blows. Fierce attacked and it seemed to have an effect against the mutant, as it turned its attention towards him. With a powerful attack, the mutant hit Fierce, sending him crashing to the floor as Reima widened his eyes in surprise.
"Fierce!" Reima exclaimed loudly as his companion fell to the ground and attempted to stand up. Tunring back to face the creature, he could see the hungry eyes staring right into his, transmitting a sense of fear and uncertainty to Reima. Reima's forehead beaded with sweat and before he knew it, he felt the air around him condensing, revealing a mist of vapours. "Oh crap..." Reima recalled about the mutant's ability to manipulate water, but it was too late.
The mutant howled and the air thickened, grasping Reima and covering him all around. Reima couldn't breathe, let alone see what was going on. He could make out some moaning from the mutant and the clanging of Fierce's weapon against the mutant.
Gene watched as Reima's health dropped fast. Immediately, Gene opened up the inventory and used healing ampuls on Reima, but Reima was losing HP way too rapidly for the ampuls to take effect. Gene grew anxious and bit his lower lip in frustration. "Phoenix! I can't see a thing that is going on!" Gene said to Phoenix, only to see the same anxiety on his face as he maneuvered Fierce against the barrage of attacks. Gene turned back to his own screen and saw Reima's health depleting like crazy. He used several Full Healing Ampuls on Reima, which recovers all of the HP, but it was still depleting.
Desperate, Reima equipped his MK-101 MOOSE and fired at the mutant. He knew roughly it had no effect, for the bullets sounded to have passed through water,as the clear rippling sound could be heard instead of a normal gun hit sound. The mutant was clearly annoyed, as he felt the grip on him tightened, and the red gauge on his HP bar decreasing even faster. Before he could do anything, Reima died, and vanished with an option, "Restart at nearest save point?".
"Damn it! #$%^$%^$&" Gene swore out loudly, much to his uselessness in handling the mutant. Before long, he saw Phoenix sighing and shaking his head as well.
Fierce turned back to his screen looking at the window that popped up "Restart at nearest save point?".
Thinking a bit he moved the pointer and pushed "Yes" button, respawning at the edge of the ruins he began running through the empty roads.
"Damn, he's strong, need to figure out a plan..." Phoenix thought.
He looked at the at the lap-top next to the screen and began typing something.
Then a window popped up on the lap-top with his position as well as Fierce's and the map of whole Ruins.
The monster was closing on to him, fast, "Must be around here somewhere, but where?"He at last came to where the map showed the enemy monster.The yellow dot meet the red one, but Fierce saw no-one, he unsheated his gunblade and was moving silently around the area, searching...
Slowly he entered a forsaken warehouse, wet and dripping, leaking water from the old pipes.The perfect place for the monster, he knew that so he backed up and climbed on a roof of a nearby building, an old gas station....
He turned to the lap-top and began typing: "To Questors, the target is at the old warehouse in the Ruins, meet at the gas station nearby"
After typing that he moved the pointer to "Attach file" and added a screenshot of the map with his and monsters position and waited now for reinforcment...
"Oooh, that was pathetic, Gene." Kyle teased as she leaned her face forward to see better. She was standing behind the seat of the real-life Lord Vanz, her hands behind her back, and she was grinning wickedly in amusement.
Gene was still half-muttering curses, and wasn't exactly in the mood to be made fun of at the moment. Kyle noticed this, and decided not to bother him anymore.
"Got all the info I need here," she commented off-hand before she returned to her seat.
Aaaahh, I hurt....
Away, away he quickly crept, until he reached the end of the corridor. He transmutated into his water form, and then he slithered across the walls,
Bad humans.
He had been hurt, not too badly, but he had been hurt. Very few humans have managed to hurt him before. He wasn't scared now--his programming didn't allow for such emotions as being scared--but getting hurt had always been strange to him.
He would make his way home. Home was where he was strongest. They would never hurt him there.
He was nearing the outside of the ruins now, slithering, creeping, undetected as he moved from area to area.
Suddenly he stopped. It was instinct that made him do so. He looked back, but didn't notice anyone following him. But somehow, he knew they would. The humans who managed to hurt him always did.
It wouldn't do him well to wait for them, no. They would only hurt him again. But he didn't have to wait for them. He was programmed to control water, but that wasn't the only thing he could do.
He slithered around the area, all over everything in it, studying and planning what his next moves would be. He was in some sort of man=made room, more modern than the corridors he had left be hind, damper and muskier and more rotten.
So easy to destroy.
He transmuted into vapor form. He sent his spray all over the room, into every nook and cranny, severly weakening the supports that held the ceiling up, but just not quite enough...
So easy to crash it down.
The half-elf and full Kriss were still in transit, back on earth from their outer-space escapades. Suddenly, Talan paused in mid-step as she got the beep of a personal message.
She turned expectantly to her companion. The Kriss nodded at her. "Let's go," he said, taking the lead.
"Wait," Talan bade him stop. "I need to check out something."
"What is it?"
"Just the usual perimeter check. I have my hunches." She made to leave in the opposite direction, but after walking a few paces she turned back towards him, adding as an afterthought, "Be careful, Dave."
"Always."
After standing, muddled due to the dark, over the controls for a few moments, he finally got around to finally turning on the lights.
"You!" Vice shouted from behind. "Are you a questor?"
Jinel-2 jumped up. "Damn it... don't startle me..." he replied.
"Thief tactics. Anyway, Jeremy, Vice here," the man answered.
"Oh, hey man, its Kain."
The thief luaghed a bit.
"While we were in the dark a messege came."
(mass PM)
"Lets go?" Jinel-2 said, not being quite sure.
"Lets."
The two wondered down the secret "Employee" passages only a thief would know of. They encountered numerous more weak cyborgs and etcentera. After awhile they reached the outside exit, which led to the point furthest away from the ruins that Jinel could think of in the area. Vice assured him that it was faster that way, and he put some of his thief skills to use.
It was a level 40 area, crouded very much on that day. Being a thief, Vice stole some valuables from the players, one of which included the LVL 20 Teleport Program. The Teleport Program allows one to travel to the area of the level designated. As the ruins were a level 20 area, Vice would use it to teleport. But one was not enough, and a Jin was missing the thievery techinique. He could attempt, but it would almost always fail, and he would wind up fighting someone. Due to a lack of defence on Jin's parts they would almost always be beating via a one on one fight.
Vice stole a second one after a while, and both of them used the stone to teleport near the said gas station. Not so near. They arrived at the enterence to the ruins. The South West enterence. Almost as far as it could get.
The two went through the ruins encountering a few random petrified and undead monsters, a couple of snakes, no biggies. They were all only in the 20-29 levels.
Eventually, the duo had come to the gas station...
"Facing it alone would not be a good idea, right, Vice?" Jinel questioned.
"Yeah. Lets go in," Vice replied.
The two entered the gas station where Fierce was located.
"Kain and Jeremy, Jinel-2 and Vice," Jinel said as an introduction.
"Oh, hello. I'm Phoenix, Fierce."
"So, did you see the mutant?" Jinel asked.
"I managed to track to the warehouse," Fierce stated, "Me and Reina got into a little fight with it."
"Okay... I'll just sit down, and wait for the others... Vice, I suggest you do the same," Jinel said.
"You!" Vice shouted from behind. "Are you a questor?"
Jinel-2 jumped up. "Damn it... don't startle me..." he replied.
"Lets."
The two wondered down the secret "Employee" passages only a thief would know of. They encountered numerous more weak cyborgs and etcentera. After awhile they reached the outside exit, which led to the point furthest away from the ruins that Jinel could think of in the area. Vice assured him that it was faster that way, and he put some of his thief skills to use.
It was a level 40 area, crouded very much on that day. Being a thief, Vice stole some valuables from the players, one of which included the LVL 20 Teleport Program. The Teleport Program allows one to travel to the area of the level designated. As the ruins were a level 20 area, Vice would use it to teleport. But one was not enough, and a Jin was missing the thievery techinique. He could attempt, but it would almost always fail, and he would wind up fighting someone. Due to a lack of defence on Jin's parts they would almost always be beating via a one on one fight.
Vice stole a second one after a while, and both of them used the stone to teleport near the said gas station. Not so near. They arrived at the enterence to the ruins. The South West enterence. Almost as far as it could get.
The two went through the ruins encountering a few random petrified and undead monsters, a couple of snakes, no biggies. They were all only in the 20-29 levels.
Eventually, the duo had come to the gas station...
"Facing it alone would not be a good idea, right, Vice?" Jinel questioned.
"Yeah. Lets go in," Vice replied.
The two entered the gas station where Fierce was located.
"Kain and Jeremy, Jinel-2 and Vice," Jinel said as an introduction.
"Oh, hello. I'm Phoenix, Fierce."
"So, did you see the mutant?" Jinel asked.
"I managed to track to the warehouse," Fierce stated, "Me and Reina got into a little fight with it."
"Okay... I'll just sit down, and wait for the others... Vice, I suggest you do the same," Jinel said.
"Stupid brainless monsters with nothing in that thick skull of theirs... maybe there is something in there but it must be all cotton... or lead... or magnet... what the heck is it with them... programmed to appear around me and attack me on sight?!"
Grumbling incessantly as a pair of skillful hands gracefully and quickly manuevered the black scythe to plunge the curved blade dead centre into yet another cyborg, Deimos backflipped out of the small crowd of cyborgs that gathered around him from out of nowhere.
With an expression that showed his cold irritated fury, Deimos held Terror out horizontally with a hand and put the outstretched palm of the other hand against the scythe's handle. "Leviathan's Roar!"
A blast of dark energy burst out from the open palm towards the small group of cyborgs approaching the assassin. With a loud explosion that resembles the spell's name, the unfortunate machines were incinerated the very instant they were hit.
Looking coldly at the spot where the gang of monsters stood, Deimos withdrew his weapon and walked out of the smaller tunnel he entered to look for Jinel. The thought about Jinel drew his eyebrows together into what resembles a scowl. The man was nowhere to be found in the tunnel, and the fight that alerted him was between two slightly high leveled cyborgs. One of them was infected with a virus and attacked the other. Deimos, with a streak of sadism brought forth by his annoyance, had drained them both of their life force very slowly.
For some unphantomable reason, right after the two cyborgs were destroyed, groups of monsters suddenly appeared and began attacking Deimos, who found out after annihilating the third group of monsters, that he had became a magnet for the monsters in the tunnel. He promptly decided to get out of the dark tunnels, not because he was afraid of the monsters, but because he received a message amidst one of the fights.
When his sharp ears picked up sounds of yet more monsters approaching, Deimos scowled and readied his weapon and magic. This was going to be a long trip to the exit.
When his sharp ears picked up sounds of yet more monsters approaching, Deimos scowled and readied his weapon and magic. This was going to be a long trip to the exit.
Deimos heaved a large sigh of relief when his surroundings finally changed from the filthy subway tunnels into open ground. Smiling happily like a young boy at the sunlight that he is being bathed in, Deimos glanced at his palmtop and mentally calculated the distance between the meeting place and where he is. Finding that it is far too long for walking, he activated the 'teleportation to clan headquarters' program installed into the electronic device he held.
Appearing in the portal which he used to go to the subway, he was greeted surprisingly promptly.
"Where have you been, Deimos? You have a certain scent around you."
Rolling his eyes as he stepped out of the portal, he graced the speaker with a quick smirk, "The tunnels have rats, Krazygal."
The Bona spy grinned from where she stood in front of another portal, "That quest business eh? Well you better change or you will scare away the other questors."
"Will do, Krazy." Deimos gave her a mock salute which sent the girl giggling as she disappeared from sight in the portal. Not only did he change into an identical but nicer-smelling set of clothing, he restocked his items to full and did a quick check on his weapons and equipments for faults. When he finally felt satisfied, he stepped into the portal room again and vanished to gas station in the Ruins, where the questors were requested to meet at.
"Jinel." The figure of the three person that came into his view made him growl menacingly, immediately grabbing the attention of the three questors who were already at the meeting place. "How and why did you get out of that goddamn tunnel without telling me?"
"Vice," Jinel-2 gestured to the thief beside him, "led me out by another secret way. I thought that since you will also receive the message from Phoenix, you will know where I went."
"I see." Deimos nodded curtly towards Vice and moved quietly next to Phoenix, his mood not improving any bit even after the explanation. As he settled next to the one of the two who were attacked by the water mutant, he asked. "Tell me about the attack while we wait for the others."
Phoenix nodded and began to tell the assassin about the assault. Deimos listened intently, absorbing all the information and details, knowing fully well that every bit counts. He then sat in silence with his mind processing what he just heard. The various conclusions he reached did not sound very good to him and he broke the silence.
"Where are the other questors?"
[OOC: Double-posting because nobody seem to want to post. I got Deimos to the gas station. Now it's up the rest to arrive and move the story on. I really don't wish to have to triple post... and I don't think I can do that anyway.]
After about 6 minutes of waiting and silence, Vice stood up. He dusted his pants off and began to make his way into the warehouse.
"Where are you going?" he heard one of the questors ask, not sure which one as he refused to turn around.
"I'm going to look around this place...See what I can find."
To others it may have seemed that he was going to go and look for clues as to the whereabouts of the mutant, but if anyone had really known Vice, they would've known that by 'See what I can find' he really meant, 'See what I can steal.' He began to make his way deeper into the warehouse, running across the occasional rat, but no real interesting treasure.
"Ugh...so boring. Is there nothing in here worth stealing?" He looked around and sighed, "This place is beneath my talents..."
He began to make his way back to the others, but quickly stopped when he came upon a treasure chest behind some boxes.
"Hello, what have we here?" Vice said looking at the chest with a smirk. "Something good perhaps?"
He opened the chest and looked inside. To his dismay, it was nothing but a healing item. He swore to himself and made his way back to the others. He jumped down from the rafters and landed behind Deimos with a thud.
"I think I've suddenly realized why I stayed away from the place for so long..." He took out the item in which he had found and threw it out amongst the group, "there's nothing but crap in this place. I like my tunnels better..."
He walked over to a corner and sat on a box. He shook his head from side to side and yawned.
"When will the others get here." He said laying back on the box. "This is really boring. Wake me when they get here...or you people have something interesting to say."
(OOC: I apologize for the shortness of the post...but as I said, writer's block. I'll make my next post longer, promise.)
Kyle raised her hands high behind her back as she stretched in her seat. Eight hours on the PC straight... She didn't remember ever having gone so far without a break, ever. She muffled a yawn, and then stood up stiffly.
"Hey, where are you going?" Gene, who sat beside her, couldn't help but ask.
"Bathroom, and then I've got an appointment."
Gene's eyebrows twitched, ever so slightly. "Oh? You're just going to leave us?"
Kyle nodded. "I've done my part here. Besides, this is a game, not a life."
The mutant perked up his ears. Outside. Friends of the bad men are waiting outside.
"Kain and Jeremy, Jinel-2 and Vice."
Still in vapor form, he slithered onto the warehouse windows. Unobserved, he sent out a thin, wispy tendril to sense.
"Oh, hello. I'm Phoenix, Fierce."
"So, did you see the mutant?" Jinel asked.
"I managed to track to the warehouse," Fierce stated, "Me and Reina got into a little fight with it."
Anger rippled through the mutant's molecules.
"Okay... I'll just sit down, and wait for the others... Vice, I suggest you do the same," Jinel said.
Something inside the warehouse crashed.
To: Questors From: Questor Talan Subject: Mutant I think you guys might find this interesting. Attachment: ruins_map.gif, subway_map.gif, station_map.gif (The maps have show the areas as tiled squares, black background with white lines. Black squares indicate 'normal' areas, red quares are monster spawn points, light green areas mark mutant sightings, dark green areas mark where players have been killed without apparent cause, while blue areas are confirmed areas where players have actually battled the mutant. Additionally, the subway map has a big red X. Upon closer inspection, there are blue lines that connect all three maps, which are areas inaccessible to players.) |
